PSN is starting to build itself up, but why skip the basics first?

PSN is really starting to make for good competition. I know that when I finally get my PS3 it will more than likely have more features, and more functionality. But what I want to know is why people are so excited about PSN Home instead of clamoring for the basics that XBL offers that can easily be copied and implemented?

PSN Home is a great idea but still, I think i'd rather a unified friends list and 1 name for ALL games than an achievement/mii knock-off. I'd rather be able to do chat over all games, I'd rather moderation enforced by Sony to do away with problem players. I'd rather Sony handle gaming servers, but that would throw PSN's free aspect out the window. There are so many basic ideas from XBL that PSN should just try to implement first!

Sony's heart is in the right place, but shouldn't they be trying to improve the basics and make PSN just like XBL. I mean if your going to steal your competitors tricks, steal the ones that make your network more functional, not the flashy ones that are there for show.

You don't have 1 name for all your online games. You have to register one for each, so I could go and be "thewiseguy" on motorstorm and your out of luck.

It seems to me like a game that was released with bugs that they just want to patch when they get around to it, but I really expected these things on day one, given that the PS3 launch was delayed. Maybe people who buy their PS3 will have a better initial impression of the console since they will get the bells and whistles immediately instead of being told to wait patiently. I'm still really glad that there are going to be big changes.

Show is what Sony does best at the moment. They'll probably get around to the more practical gaming applications later.

I am pretty sure you only have one name and login for all online games.

Would it even be possible to make these things without a unified service?

XBL's unified service is a joke and will start to cry as more users get online if they ever sell more than 20 million 360's

I'm pretty sure your wrong about the whole not having 1 name thing, I got 3 PS3 games and I've never had to register a new name for each one.

Wouldn't it be better for him to complain before getting one so those thing are out there or exist when he actually owns one.

Umm.... OK? Unless of course they expand their servers, which they have done and will do in accordance with how many users subscribe to Live. Plus, people host games with their own connections on Live. So long as you're playing with someone (host) with a half-decent connection it's all good.

I was just asking if it were even possible to have the unified features that make Live so convenient on PSN.... seeing as the developers themselves all run their games separately.

So far, I can say the same. I haven't had to register my name again. I have three games that can be played online....haven't had to register my name. Go figure.

Yeah your PSN ID that you intially register on your console automatically rolls over into every online game you purchase and play.....this isnt Nintendo Friends Codes.
