I'm sitting here on my couch with my laptop.. and man... I'm downloading the 394mb Ridge Raver 7 demo..... it's ben ABOUT 10 minutes and it's at 8%.... Seriously, what kind of garbage is this? I'd have this thing downloaded on XBL completely by now. And don't go saying my connection sucks, because it DOESN'T.

This really isn't acceptable.

To be perfectly honest.... If I had the chance, I'd take my 650$ back and wait for a price drop and some GAMES than keep this vaporware console. Sorry if this sounds kinda biased, I'm just irritated that I paid so much for something that is flat-out boring... This is the first time I'v booted up my ps3 in easily a month, and other than 2 demos and fl0w, there isn't much different.

The downloads are very slow. I have cable internet with 100% connectivity, and it's awful. The 360 is faster.

PSN is usually fine for me.  The Motorstorm and GTHD took me about 10 to 15 minutes to download.  fl0w went slow, like 15 minutes for a 129mb file.

So, now I guess I have to sit here on the internet while I wait for this to download, seeing how I can't do anything else. If I wanted to play the 360 or wii, I'd have to unplug the ps3's component wires, find the other ones on the floor behind my entertainment stand, and plug those it. and I'm way to lazy for that right now, so I'll just sit here and destroy the ps3 fanboys delusion of the ps3 being flawless.

I need a GOOD switchbox/source selecter, btw.... *sigh*

Or a new TV. This one sucks. Samsung LN-S3251D Don't ever buy it. The HDMI isn't compatible with the ps3 and it causes some bugs.

I'll get my money back from samsung if it's the last thing I do.... because it SHOULD work fine. That's false advertising.

What size is that TV?? Anyway, I've got my eyes on a Panasonic 32" om ebay :D I'm saving up for it. (Sucky part about panasonic is they are stingy with components and HDMI, it has only one of each and about two composite  ) Anyway, I though the PS3's HDMI will work with all TV's.....I might have to buy an HDMI and component switcher.

Why is that funny? Because I'm not kissing sony's ass and I don't want to make love to my ps3? Grow up. We can't all be as cool as you. I like the ps3 just fine, I just wish there was more to play on it, and I wish PSN was more sorted out.

It's a 32'' lcd.... It's pretty nice... 4000:1 contrast ratio... Really brilliant, bright display. It only has one set of components and 2 composites too... :) it sucks. but hey, it has two hdmi inputs, which would be cool if I didn't hav handshaking issues. Oh, and VGA, too.

I guess it sounds like I'm contradicting myself because I said it sucks, then I say it's nice.... It's a good set.... I'm just mad about the HDMI issue.... I mean, I want that resolved, pronto, and Samsung has been playing monkey in the middle with me.... With the cash I spent on this samsung 720p/1080i set, I could get a 32'', or even slightly larger, 1080p set with a less popular brand-name.

Nice, the panasonic I am about to get it 3000:1 has one HDMI and component (don't care about anything else), it doesn't have VGA or DVI (I want to eventually connect a rig to it, but I have to get an HMI switcher and a HDMI male to DVi female converter too for my graphics card connection). But it's 570 plus shipping so I can't complain :D I can only find 23" Samsungs on ebay that have reasonable prices......

At least they are cheaper than Sony Bravia...those LCD's are filthy expensive. And I need to save my money to get a rig, a PS3 and Wii, without drawing too much from my bank account.

Xbox Live usually runs fast, but there were a couple times when it ran slow due to massive popularity of certain demos and videos. The Halo video took a day and would stop all together.

Wow, thats a really good price. I'm PRETTY SURE you're talking about the TV i was going to get if I couldnt afford the samsung... Because it was a 32'' panasonic with a 3000:1 contrast ratio.... I've seen it in action, it's a really good tv. Man... with taxes and stuff.... my lcd cost about $1600. I bet a bravia is real close to that. I wont stop until I get my money back, or they upgrade me to a better tv.

Agreed. I would of made a post  as well, but didn't feel like getting barked at by cows. The motorstorm demo, GTHD, and F1 demo all took about 30-40 minutes to download plus install. It would of took half the amount of time on Xbox Live...

I figured I would test this myself. I dont really need the RR7 demo because I own the game. I started downloading at 12:15 PM EST and hit 8% at 12:17 PM EST. Took me two minutes to get to where it took you 10. This is with Comcast cable internet service and using wireless. I will let you know when it is done.

To download a 600MB file in 20 minutes you would have to maintain a constant download speed of 4Mbps from the Live server. Pretty unlikely regardless of your internet connection.

Yeah I had HDMI problems (and vertical banding issues) with my 42 inch 1080p Sharp Aquos LCD (crazy holiday sale $2900 CND) . I ended up bringing it back to Centre Hi Fi and exchanging it for a 40inch Sony Bravia 1080p LCD (on sale $3400 CND). The HDMI works fine most of the time but even on this Sony I'll have to reset my HD digital cable box every so often to get it to recognize my HDMI cable.

HDMI is so overrated and it honestly has tons of problems.

Maybe not too many people were downloading then. It all depends how many people are on downloading it at once. I have a perfect connection, and it took an hour. Where ar 360 demos usually take 15-20 mins.

I started mine about 40 minutes after he posted he was 8% done. Do you really think that a lot of people were downloading RR7 at 8:33 PT and then it was all clear at 9:15 PT ? I also downloaded GTHD on Christmas Eve right when it came out (when I could finally get the page to load) in well under an hour. Do you think there were alot of people downloading it then? Face it man, its not the PSN network. Some people have connection problems, some dont.

It depends on how many people are accessing that download as well. i have 10Mbs cable and it took me 5 hours to download the crackdown demo over XBL.

just wait when there is like 500K people on the PSN network at any given moment, its going to grind to a halt

The downloads are very slow. I have cable internet with 100% connectivity, and it's awful. The 360 is faster.BioShockOwnz

Funny, I downloaded RR7 demo just three days ago and it took me 20 minutes. Which is just the right amount of time for a 400MB on my connection.

It depends on how many people are accessing that download as well. i have 10Mbs cable and it took me 5 hours to download the crackdown demo over XBL.jigglebilly1983

I have dowloaded files off the internet on my PC and it sometimes take 4-6 weeks to complete. So you waiting 10 minutes and already got 8% is fast. Besides it is free. Set it to download and do something else and come back to it. I usually set my PC to download before I go to bed.

Sigh.  You've added such a constructive point of view to this topic.  You should be proud.

For anyone that has yet to notice(ie: almost every poster) this topic is about the comparative transfers rates of Live compared to PSN.  It has nothing to do with how YOUR connection is performing on any ONE service.

So if your going to post a rebuttal, then show how your Live connection is similar or less than your PSN transfer rates.

Comparing your download times to his on just one network is pointless and has no bearing on this topic.
