It's all great convienant and does a wonderful thing for the game industry heck the media industry as a whole. However for anyone to think that it will completely take over is insane it will always be better to have a tangible copy of something versus just the idea of owning something. When you buy a digital copy of something your buying access to use that code, program, data whatever. But you don't actually own it sure there is that whole bit about being able to redownload something and what not but really think about it. all it would take is a very bored or very good hacker or even a major glitch in the system to screw up all the recorded data. digital disrtubution is great but it's still founded on fragile tech. Atleast with a hard copy of something you know will always have it as long as you take care of it.

And I know that some people will argue that all data stored on any physical media will be lost over time but if properly taken care of atleast it won't happen in your Lifetime.

+1 on coexistance for a long time. But DD is here to stay. I'm drawing a blank as to the last time I bought a physical music CD...

This is exactly the thing, It took the iPod and itunes to show the masses how DD could work, and now its the predominate means of purchasing. with set-top boxs and On-demand viewing movies and TV series availvable, movies will go all DD at some point. maybe Onlive is to games what itunes is to music?

I use iTunes for everything. I haven't bought a physical CD in God knows how long. I'm still a bit more closer to my games though. As far as PC gaming goes I am more comfortable with DD of MMORPGs then any other genre simply because those games do have a lifespan whether the player stops playing or servers are shut down. So to a degree the DD becomes just as worthless for a MMORPG as a hard copy as the game get's older. But from a collector's perspective it's always good to have a hard copy.

On PC, I buy EVERYTHING on Steam, its better than a disk IMO. no doubt it will be a slow transition into DD from physical media, but this is a sign that it is moving that way
