PSN Subscription Fee 2010?

(Sorry if this is old, I looked on the front and second pages of the forums and couldn't find a topic relating to this already)

I was scrolling through the news on the gamespot home page and found this: Sony planning paid PSN subscription fee for 2010

What does SW think of this? Believe it or not? Sony fans, if these plans are true what's your opinion?

Oh, ok. Odd that Gamespot would post a news story with such a convincing title that wasn't true. I now realise why this isn't a burning topic in SWs :P

Seems like there just slowly working there way into charging to play, but then again who knows these days what these companys will do.

I won't be personally 'offended' by a subscription fee, since Kaz has stated that it will be an offer that's placed on top of what's currently available for free. I would pay for it if and only if the premium services would more than justify the neccesity of a price, if not then I could care less.

Two things: A) Still free to play online. B) OptionalRotaryRX7

This has already been a topic, but I can say this.

SONY is not BLIND to the bajillions upon Googajillions and Gold Bullion M$ gets with Xbox Live.

It's funny. Everyone acuses Microsoft of being greedy, as sonn as $ony gets a foot-hold with PS3, they start talking about ways to get more money. Boo-hoo, Live has always been and always will be superior to anything they can do. The 50 bucks is worth it. Just another case of Sony going back on their word.

Well, sort of funny.

There is a key difference here when we jump the gun it's easy to miss.

Sony hasn't charged for this rumored Subscription fee just yet. So, it would actually be funny WHEN and IF they do for THOSE that find humor in that.

It's not so funny when it hasn't actually happened and it's a rumor.

Just another case of Sony going back on their word.

its been confirmed they are making a subscription based account for psn but details are mute at this point of whats all going to be included in it.Jake145222

Nothing's really been confirmed on exactly what this all is. We simply don't know. I would play PSN like crazy right now, since if this may be the last time we get to enjoy it for free.

However, we all must notice that people take PSN for granted that it's free, and while this wouldn't be great if it were true, with the money Xbox Live rakes in, who can blame Sony for wanting a slice of that pie? I'm sure Nintendo will jump in at some point too, if this trend holds.

Sony keeps adding and adding things, and they aren't getting money to do so. Xbox Live got additions and have millions upon millions to spare that get funneled into other depts.

While I will freely admit Xbox Live is superior to PSN, it's not by a large margin.

I hope it's not true, and I would much rather Xbox Live become Free or cheaper, it looks like consumers are voting the opposite way with their dollar.
