this forum is for people who have BOTH 360 and ps3.

comparing the 2 online services.

psn = free

360 = 50$

WINNER = PS3 (FREE IS ALWAYS GOOD)

psn = lots of amazing games (flower , tekken 5 ,stardust)

360 = ALOT more games but most of them are trash and OVERPRICED.

WINNER = PS3 (HAVING A SMALL GREAT GAME COLLECTION IS BETTER THAN HAVING A HUGE GARBAGE COLLECTION)

psn vs 360 soulcalibur 4 = they are practically identical with no lag if some1 has 4 or 5 bars.

WINNER = ITS A TIE. BOTH GAMES PLAY THE SAME ONLINE BUT ONE IS FOR FREE WHILE ANOTHER IS NOT.

psn vs 360 online exclusive games.

psn

1. resistence 2 = 0 lag + 60 mp matchs and the games does not take long to start

2. killzone 2 = u will find online lag and aiming lag in this game. but mp experience is amazing.

360

1. halo 3 = 1 of my fav fps but matches take long time to start.

2. gears 2 = my fav 360 game but online is so bad. sometimes it take up to 15 minutes for a wingman match to start.

WINNER = HANDS DOWN PS3. A FREE SERVICE PROVIDES GREAT GAME THAT RUN BETTER(WITH NO LAG) ONLINE THAN A NON FREE SERVICE. HALO 3 AND GEARS 2 SHULD BE FLAWLESS ONLINE WITH NO LAG SINCE THE ONLINE MP IS NOT FREE. SO BASICALLY THE BEST ONLINE GAMES FOR 360 LAAAAAAAAAG SO MUCH AND TAKE SO MUCH TIME FOR THE MATCH TO START YET THEY CHARGE U FOR IT.

psn vs 360 online experience.

i am no fan of ps home or the 360 avatars but ps home wins hand down on this.

WINNER = PS3. I DONT LIKE PS3 HOME BUT I THINK IT IS VERY CLEEAR THAT PS HOME WHIPS 360 AVATARS BUTT.

psn vs 360 applications.

360 can use msn messenger while ps3 can surf the net (so u can say this is a tie)

WINNER = ITS A TIE

online updates.

360 get demos usually a week or 2 weeks earlier than ps3 does. it is excpected since the service is not free.

WINNER = 360. 360 GET DEMOS EARLIER THAN THE PSN DOES.

FINAL VERDICT.

PS3 ONLINE is so much better with so much lesser lag in game and is FREE. better downloadable games and 20 mil psn subscribers compared to the 17 mill the 360 has. i am a new ps3 owner but the psn is so much better than 360 live yet u pay for 360. 360 live is the biggest rip off ive ever seen(THEY SHUD CHANGE IT FROM 360 LIVE TO 360 LAG). i think 360 live shud be the free one and sony shud start asking for money to play online since it is so much more superior to the 360 live. every single aspect of the online experience is almost better in psn. most of the online expirience on 360 live is ACTUALLY WAITING FOR A GAME TO START. the ps3 does not have this problem and yet it is free.

PSN > 360 live (ANY1 WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS EITHER LYING TO HIMSELF OR NEVER COMPARED THEM BOTH FIRST HAND)

ok you pay 50$ per year for xbox live. asks yourself what that goes for?if you or or some other player ends up hosting the game then what on earth are you paying for? Its the worst ripoff in online gaming! you buy a game for 60$ but then you are denied access to some features unless you pay 50$ a year. its like going to the supermarket to buy a loaf of bread and then the salesman says, "I'm afraid you can't access that bread unless you also buy a dozen eggs"! just ridiculous! the winner is easy. It's PSN!

There's no real difference, except for three things.

  1. Everyone on XBL has a headset.
  2. 360 has a nice party system.
  3. PSN is free.

They're both Peer 2 Peer, both get the same demos, both have downloadable movies / tv shows and so forth. Its a moot debate really. If you have more friends on one over the other, thats the only obvious reason why one would be superior. I still think XBL is a shaft job though due to the fact that everything you get on Xbox Live Gold for $50, you get on XBL Silver for Free with the exception of online play which is peer 2 peer to begin with, oh and demos a week early.

i also like to know that in 5 years time ill be able to play call of duty 2 unlike on PSN where servers wont always be there.

I love these completely unbiased threads.

I prefer Live, because there's so many more things to Download/watch and demos are earlier generally.
Also DLC.

Do you actually believe half of that garbage you spouted? Do you honestly think XBLA etc. is composed entirely of bad games? Even though it actually has some AAA games, unlike PSN... XBL is the superior service, but given the choice, I'd probably take PSN for free.

Wrong. Just because they come with headsets...does not mean the user of a 360 isusing it. AndSony has dedicated servers for major titles.

PSN is better because it's free and has dedicated servers for some exclusive games... being able to voice chat 'cross game' and download more episodes of "the office" is not worth 10 dollars a year, let alone 50... especially when it's the American office.

the thing is people want online mp. no one really care about surfing the net or msn messenger on consoles. every1 care abnout being able to PLAY online. ps3 does that for free. thats the only thing that matters in a console online service is being able to play online. i think microsoft is mocking us with the BS silver account.

XBL is better. Theres no way to spin it, even though XBL costs. The fact that PSN is free does not actually make the service itself better. So money talk is irrelevant.

XBL's online service is great, I love it but what I hate is the whole microtransaction crap that MS put in. I dont buy anything from the marketplace much now because of it.

same here i have never bought anything from XBL marketplace and dont intend to ever do, but its just the whole service as a whole that is great especially if you have friends who also own the system.

XBL - more online games, better online features, faster and easier to use, centrally managed, better community, designed from the ground up for the best online gaming experience.

PSN - fewer online games, worse online features, harder to use, not centrally managed, worse community, cobbled together to try and copy XBL. But hey, it's free.

XBL is far better than PSN.

whether theres more online games is down to the number of developers. I don't see what the xbox live service has to do with it. and live is certainly not faster. depending on the user that ends up hosting you could get some nasty lag. and how can you say its a better community? I mean if you stick with your friends then sure its better but PSN can do the same. but yeah PSN is far better because you have access to the content that you purchase. unlike in 360 where there's constant yearly toll to be paid.

Yeah, community is good. Even if it's some silly American kids talking about what "Brad" Or "Cody" did at "free period" It's always fun.

With XBL, developers don't have to invest thousands of dollars to develop online infrastructures for their games; they just let Xbox Live handle all the grunt work. Player authentication, setting up lobbies, tracking skill levels, all that stuff that goes into setting up the actual game session is handled by XBL. On PSN, the developer has to do all that stuff by themselves. Result: more online games with better online features on XBL. Just ask Sega why Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtua Tennis 3 are online on XBL and not on PSN. Or ask yourself if a tiny game like Pinball FX would be online if it were on PSN, like it is on XBL... complete with voice/video support, leaderboards, trueskill and DLC. Better community means not only that we have more people with headsets to chat, organize and plan strategies, we also have a team at Microsoft who do things for the community, organizing events and keeping us in the loop. Things like Game With Fame, Community Playdate, GamerChiX and Xbox All-Nighters. But not only that, we have Major Nelson, Trixie and the crew; whenever they come to town, they try to organize a little get-together for XBL members to come out, meet the guys and score some free food and stuff. I have personally gotten a free Turte Beach headset from Major Nelson... we were at one of these dinners, and he literally jst gave me the headset and said "take it, it's yours." That's the kind of community we have on XBL. What's PSN's community like? A bunch of silent usernames? For the Halo 3 launch, Microsoft threw a massive launch party in midtown NYC. Yours truly got to meet Osi Umenyiora and scored tons of free schwag at the event. Plus there were things like Xbox 360 Zero Hour and stuff. What has Sony done for YOUR community lately? And on XBL, at least you CAN stick with your friends, because they will stick with the same profile forever, because they paid for it and put lots of achievements and things on it. On PSN, you can set up new accounts and alias all the time, because who cares, they're free. On XBL, you invest in your identity, so you're less likely to just dump it and get a new one. But by all means, continue to bleat the same tired argument about "paying to access content you already paid for," after all, you pay for the internet, therefore you should receive free access to EVERYTHING on it, right? :roll:
