lololololol this thread is funny.. psp fail rate as bad as 360?
what do you do? try modding it and look at pron on its internet browser all day?
Im not here to bash the system but its getting close to as bad as the 360 in term of fail rate. Ive gone through five and Im done. Mine stopped reading UMDs and wont read the memory card. Tried everything to fix it. So its getting traded in for some new games. Has anyone else had this problem?1noteshort
My uncle has a PSP and it works fine. I'm planning on getting one eventually.

That's pretty unlucky to go through five.......
I've never heard of any major hardware issues with it (except if you try and use "omebrehee" as they say)
Never heard of problems with the PSP. Other than dead pixels. (BTW I have a Launch PSP with 2 dead pixel, but I'm alright with that)kentaro22
Never come across a problem like this. Only dead pixels (2 of them).funnymario
You can get this video that you download online and upload to your PSP and it just consists of lots of varying colours flashing brightly and fast and you leave it on for a while and aparently it wakes up a lot of dead pixels.

Yes, I tried. But that only help stuck pixels. Mine are dead pixels.i have had problems with mine also it stopped reading UMD's the first time and now the analog nub is out of place making things happen on screen that shouldntSerraph105
The analogue nub annoyed me a little. Was thinking of doing that mod where you replace it with a PS2 analogue stick, but that would completely remove the portability factor, what with a giant analogue stick jutting out from it :P

I dont know what to tell you. The only time I experience problem with my last PSP was when I dropped it in the sink while watching youtube videos and doing the dishes. And all I had to do was let it sit for like the night without touching it and letting the water dry. I know the PSP is a good piece of hardware but most people just treat it anyway they want and expect it to still work. If you still have your warranty call sony and get it fixed, and the PSP's failure rate isn't even close to being as bad as the 360's. Does it even have a failure rate?
My PSP is beat to heck because I take it all over the place and it still works perfectly. I also haven't heard of any problems with PSP.
Ive had a PSP since launch and used it as my main gaming system for over 2 years. Never had it fail on me. I Also bought 2 more PSP's over that time and they both work fine also.
Sounds like you are modding or just clumsy. I know that 360 comparison was you attempt at humor.

if your psp's never failed on you, why did you buy two new ones

Maybe he is referring to his household. I own two DS lites, but own is for me and one is for my kids. That way we can game together on trips.

I bought my 2nd one so me and my friend could play Wi-Fi. And then when the Slim came out, I had to get one of them. So yeah, I still have all 3 and they all work flawlessly.

doesnt fix my dead pixelsYou need to leave it on for hours and hours and hours. Works about 70% of the time though. One of mate's PSPs took something ridiculous, like 10 hours of the video playing constantly for it to fix them all.
The PSP has it's own problems.
I wnt through three and they all had dead pixels until I got tired of it.
The amount of garbage in this thread makes me hold my nose.I've gone through two, however the first one only broke because the bus I was travelling in got sided by a truck.
I have been through about 8 psp memory sticks however cause they do fail a heck of a lot (legit ones store bought).

Ive used half a dozen Memory Sticks extensively over the two-year period where Ive owned two PSP's (Original, and now Slim) and used UMD's extensively, I havent had a problem with them at all. This topic is fanboy garbage. Other PSP owners I know have not claimed problems like this either.

It is, I've had my PSP since launch, no memory stick problems or UMD read errors EVER. And I have dropped it plenty of times. Its plenty durable.
You have gone through five psp ? I call BS.
If you said 2 or maybe even 3 ok, but 5 no way i'll beleive it. The console is very reliable, some problem might happen from time to time like with anything, but going through 5 of them is less likely than wining the lotto twice in a row.

I've heard little about problems with PSP's... While you could have legitimatly went through 5 (It has to be somthing your doing to it... Could not be, but I've never heard of anyones psp have problems with anything but the screen... mostly with dead Pixals and a few screens cracked)
But, The Second you Compared it to the 360's problems you put your self up for loads of Flames... And come on you must have wanted it to say its comparable to the 360... The PS2 had some problems, but on average the PSP is a VERY reliable Handheld if you take semi good care of it... mabye keep it in the sock that came with it and don't play football with it...
