Buy both if you can, but if you can only get one, get a DS.
I'd recommend Mario Kart, Pokemon, and Zelda when it comes out.
Hi its time for me to buy a hand-held but dang it i just cant decide if to buy a Psp or a Ds i need your advice please help me.

If you like Sonic games, buy the DS (Sonic Rush is the best Sonic in years); if not, buy the DS for all the Marios, Metroid, Castlevanias, and Zelda (when it comes out)
The DS is quite possibly the best puzzle console of all time, which make for great handheld experiences.
It also has a very nice 2d platforming selection, 2d adventures, some very good jrpgs (with many more on the way), some excellent strategy games, some very good sims, one of the best rhythm games ever made (EBA), one good FPS (with potential for others, but devs don't seem to be jumping on that one with much fervor at the moment), and a ton of other games that you could probably fall in love with, but would never expect it, just because you've never played anything like it before.
sigh the ds is incredibly fun where psp is not bujt it does have mp3/video/picture holding/internet however if you wnated a decent substitutefor all those things your looking at it right now your pc you decideSerraph105
the psp has more AAA's and AA's than the ds. and with games like god of war, silent hill, castlevania, and ff7 crisis core coming out, its a good year to get a psp
how many ****ing times?!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
DS won, PSP is a flop. DS won PSP floppped hard buy a DS!!!!!!!!
PSP = better graphics, better online, and in myopinion better games, plus it can do tons of stuff the DS can't.
DS = fancy stylus and teh touch screen.

hence the error in judging a platform soley on the NUMBER of AAA's and AA's. (plus; aren't they equal in AAA's here? the original quoter makes it sound like it has more of both)
Especially when someone is asking which of the two he hsould buy, not which one is "better by system wars, a forum, standards".
to the topic creator. It really depends on your taste. Normally, i would recomend the DS over the PSP, especially now since a PSP redesign is on the way it would be crazy to buy the older model! I've found the DS to have a much greater variety of good and great games, including a number of excellent games you just can't find anywhere else(like hotel dusk).

To be fair, the DS has more AAA and AA exclusive titles.
The PSP has 32 mb of system memory, and now the slim one has 64 mb. I saw some people making a big deal out of this, but if you save your games on the stick... what does the system memory do?bretthorror
That's RAM, not storage space.

It's RAM, used to make games run faster and lower loading times.

Ahhh, thanks guys. I am not sure exactly how much the extra 32mb will speed things up, but it's nice they did. Gamespot's take on loading times seemed a bit better.

net play inferior to the PSP (sorry guys but the friends codes and stuff makes it inferior better get my flame shield on)
fewer exclusives AA games than the PSP
processor power and graphical power inferior to the PSP
PSP (slim) :

actually the PSP has more AA exclusives. look it up i already did
DS, its just fun and cheap. It tries to be different and it does, even used to say touch screen will never work...guess they were wrong.
The PSP has some great games but it tried to hard to be a multi entertainment system. And you got UMD movies £2 cheaper than the DVD version, ported PS2 games £5 cheaper than the PS2 version.
i find it quite sad that POSP fanboys cant accept that their handheld flopped. You dont hear dreamcast or Gamecube fanboys crying but the little kids that bought the PSP are always in tears
it's pathetic
