It's the NEW PSP!!!!!

There's the inside of the box.

Inside the box? PSP, battery, power cables, manual and a fine pine table by the looks of things.

The perfect accompaniment to board room tables the world over.

Check out how much shinier the new PSP is! It's all glossy and sleek!

... Which sadly leads to aesthetic issues. We gave the new surface the fingerprint test. It, erm, passed with failing colours.

Inside this box is where the magic happens; where Sony's nanotech pixies and elves massage fairy dust into the UMD to make it work.

Here are some photos that Sony took earlier. You wouldn't be able to tell if we hadn't said anything, right? Right?

Well la di da Mr Sony photographer. You think you're so cool with your focusing and your proper lighting.

Little known fact - the new PSP is made from the same material as Darth Vader's helmet.

Another little known fact that we've just made up is that Ken Kutaragi called the original PSP his 'Dream Kitten', which would make this model the 'Dream Kitten Jr.' - wish they'd gone with that name.

Today's PSP Lite presentation was brought to you by Ken "the father of - presumably - some children" Kutaragi. Thanks Ken!

Edited for content. Something that's funny in the AU may not be appropiate for other countries. To see the full story, go here. I meant here.

I want a PSP.

I actualy had the pleasure of trying one of these out today, and i gotta say i was stunned. I didnt think there wasgoing to be thatmuch difference, and i guess if you dont already own a psp then you wont really understand just how different it is. Its really so so much lighter than the old phat psp.

If it were up to me, I'd let them keep it as thick as it was, and have them extend the battery life by five hours.

I'm definately considering buying one of these. I'd probably get a ceramic white one since they fingerprint less.

If you saw someone with a new PSP slim you probably wouldn't even notice any difference from the old PSP.. I have to admit though, it's the extra battery life and twice the memory that has me interested. Glad I only paid £20 for my PSP (thats less than I paid for my games!) :D

There is a cool pic in this thread where you can see a pretty nice difference a in size. Plus it is a lot lighter.http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=187547&page=12

So the battery life is shorter, the exterior gets dirty easy, and there's a video out feature...not really exciting, I'll stick my launch PSP, then.

These are the main differences between the slim and fat PSP:

  1. Weight - the slim weights about a third less than the fat version.
  2. Memory - the slim has twice the memory of the fat version. This would supposedly allow for faster loading times but as of now there hasnt been a big difference between the loading times.
  3. Controls - the control pads on the slim are slightly more elevated giving it better response.
  4. UMD slot - the slim has a new umd slot which only requires a simple tug on the cover hatch to open.
  5. Battery life - using the battery of the fat version would allow twice the amount of battery life on the slim.
  6. TV output - seperately sold AV cables allows for TV output with exceptional video quality, altought the resolution is tied down to 480 by 272 pixels when playing games.

Buy the silver then, the face buttons and D-pad are better, theres a bit more resistance on the analog nub, the screen is more vibrant and has slightly less ghosting and it may use less battery in sleep mode (somebody made that assertion, I can't confirm it).
