PSP vrs DS

Which one is better, which one should I get and why? Price is not an issue. No blind fanboyish "DS SUCKS!!",etc comments please.

PSP is great fo multimedia and emulators. It has a handful of great exclusives but mostly ports and remakes

DS has much better games, much better hardware for playing games and much better games coming out

DS has more AAAs. The PSP only has one and its just a puzzle game. A really good puzzle game but still just a puzzle game.meetroid8

Because on GAMESPOT, which I THOUGHT was what we go by in system wars. The PSP has FIVE AAA titles. :)

Tekken, Daxter, Metal Gear Ops but i also enjoyed MGS: Acid 1&2,Lumines, Syphon 1&2,Crush,Sid Meier Pirates,Filed Commender,mega men powerd up and hunter X, Disgaea,Final Fantasy Tactis, castlevania, Jeanne D Arc, Silent hill there are more good games this are one that i have

God of war, Final Fantasy crisi core and also some kind of a fighting game with all the FF character, Patapon, Star Ocean there are more games but this are the one that come in mind

all for the PSP i dont have DS.

I've got GTA:LCS, and it's pretty good for a portable game.

DS, more great games and it focus on games and if your a gamer then games should be the only reason you get something that plays games. Just like the PS3 the PSP just have all these features not necessary for games.

Not only has this been done 10,000 time before. And in the polled threads the DS has never lost.

Let me break it down for you.

If you actually follow Gamespot and go by AAA's and AA's then the PSP is the best, when in reality most of those games solely get those high scores due to them being a tech. marvel of perfect console ports/game to handhelds (proven because the console version gets 2 full points lower (GTA and Syphon Filter are huge offenders to this, usual AAA games get a 7.0 on the PS2). In reality these games aren't very good by any means they usually just "wow" you with their console on a handheld formula. That isn't to say that the PSP has a fair share amount of original games such as Dead Head Fred, DJ Max Portable, LocoRoco, Crush, and so on. Buy those games because they are popular because they are good and not because of sole "wow" factor. There are also some really good ports that you'd actually want like Valkyrie Profile, Power Stone, Darkstalkers, etc. But overall it's similar to the likes of the Gamecube or the Saturn it's a cult console. If you are into that cult then the PSP is in then it is going to be a really great system, if not then it's a dust collector. In terms of it's features they're all pretty much useless. Sure they probably were good in 2005, but this is 2008 and MP3 players have gone down in price. It's better to just by a Creative Zen that will hold far more memory for your music and movies then a PSP would. However I would like to note that the system has capablities to play your handheld games on your TV so it's sorta like you get a handheld/console in one, to me this is a huge possitive aspect of the system.

If you actually go by your choice and future line-up then the DS. I say "your choice" because about 90% of the people I know who own both systems like the DS better with the games they like best not on GS AA or AAA list (example Phoenix Wright). You can like the PSP better but I'm just saying the majority of people who own both like the DS from what I've experienced. Not only that but to me the DS defines handheld gaming unlike the PSP which trys to be a console in your hands, there's also the fact that the DS has many traditional games as well as unique ones. Some games you should get would be: Mario Kart DS, Jump Ultimate Stars, Castlevania, Contra 4, Phoenix Wright, Etrian Odyessy, Yoshi's Island DS, Zelda Phantom HourGlass, Lunar Knights, amongst many others.

In terms of future line-up, you have to be a fanboy to say the PSP, especially if you're talking about high profile games. For 2009 the PSP has God of War and Crisis Core, yes big games but the DS has Tales of Innocence, Ninja Gaiden DS, Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest IX (probable), Phoenix Wright IV (the first in the series designed for the DS), Professor Layton (took Japan by storm), Sonic Brotherhood of Steel (I think it was confirmed for '09). And these are just some of the high profile games, there are more along with many smaller profile games to look towards.

Overall I definately say the DS is your best bet.

Dude, not to bias, but I have both a PSP and a DS and I say PSP. I've had my DS for two years now, and it was great for the first year, but then it just died (in both how much fun I have playing it and working order. I had to get mine replaced for freezing problems MANY TIMES.). DS got extremely boring. However, I would recommend it to Nintendo fans (obviously) and if you like the kinds of games DS has to offer, buy yourself a DS. You would not be able to do me a greater honor. On the other hand, if you REALLY like having graphics pixel perfect in your games and you want a storage device on the side, buy the PSP. The PSP can only mezmerize with its sleek graphical abilities and shocking audio and video quality.

Now I've seen, heard, tasted, and smelled all this crap about "real gamers" going with DS only. Or to some degree, NINTENDO only. Let me tell you now that there is no greater baloney in video gaming history than that besides SEGA's "Genesis does what Nintendon't" campaign. That may sound like a contradiction, but first let me imply my point: The true gamer smiles upon all of the gaming systems--not just one or two or three--ALL OF THEM. I own many Nintendo systems, 2 Sega systems, and 2 Sony systems, and I can officially say that a fanboy is the exact opposite of a gamer: Sticking to his own system rather than appreciating the technological marvel of the consoles of today.
