id say that it depends on if you really liked your psp before. my opinion would be to go with the DS, which is the best handheld game system yet

Crystal Chronicals is shaping up nicely. Your list pretty much sums it up however. DS has the best lineup for now.

I would recommend the purchase of a DSLite. As another respondant in this thread has outlined - the DS is receiving many more titles (and of a higher quality) then the PSP. It also has many more out at the moment, and the DSLite is cheaper then the PSP. Most importantly, people of the female persuasion prefer the DSLite, so you'll be a ladies man if you buy a DSLite*

Well I'm assuming you still have all your games for the PSP and if that's the case, I would get the PSP. If you lost all your games too, that really blows  I would then go with whatever games best suits your gaming needs.

I couldn't deal with the load times of a PSP, being that its a portable system, so i'm staying away from it, despite it being cheap now. i'm gonna find someone who has monster hunter freedom 2 and try theirs, if its very good i might get one.

Nintendo Dev art style (cartoony) is more suitable for a handhelds. The PSP has more power but the art style makes the games look worst in most cases.

If you have the money, got both, so you can get the best of both worlds. Great graphics in one hand and a cool touch screen in the other. :)

What exactly makes the upcoming PSP games of a lesser quality than the upcoming DS games? From what I've seen of the DS line-up there's Zelda, Ninja Gaiden, Dragon Quest 9, Final Fantasy XII: RD... err, exactly what else is there (if there's anything else, please say)? Whereas on the PSP there's Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Wipeout Pulse, Loco Roco 2, Silent Hill: Origins, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics, SOCOM Tactical Strike, and much, much more. I'm sure there's plenty more on the DS as well, seeing as it is the handheld with the most market-penetration and therefore the most appealing to devs looking to turn the largest potential profit, but are there any more high-profile games? Another Mario game, for instance?

If your main genre's are Racing, Fighting, and Sports games the DS is not for you. I own a DS and the library is really not as great as people like to make everyone believe.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 *a new game unlike the PSP's port*, Phoenix Wright III, Heroes of Mana, It's a Wonderful World, Sonic Rush Adventure, Contra 4, Maple Story DS, Ultimate Mortal Kombat DS, Disgea DS, Final Fantasy IV, and Drawn to Life.

That's why the PSP's line-up is inferior to the DS's. :)

Oh and that was just third party, if you would like I would list first party too. :)

Well the fact that the TC wants feedback regarding which handheld console is a more valid purchase indicates that he doesn't intend to buy both.

I personally would go for the DSLite. Not only is it cheaper, it possesses cheaper-priced games than the PSP, has a more quality-built games in its library (and upcoming ones still), would probably (if not surely) possess more AA/AAA games than the PSP based on the upcoming titles at least until Q3 2008, and finally it really is the better handheld (more battery life, pocket sized device, fast loading times and quicksaves and standbyes, convenient for people on the go). The PSP, despite some noteworthy games, lacks the exclusive AA/AAA games the DS offers and generally isn't "portable" compared to its rival.

I really don't want to inject my personal opinion into this, but... if we're talking about the well-known free MMORPG that is Maple Story on PC... scratch that game off the list. RIGHT NOW. That game simply sucks balls.

Back on topic... that is a pretty nice list, especially Heroes of Mana and Contra 4. And yes, I'd like to see the 1st party line-up. But note that I haven't said the entire PSP line-up. Not at all. If I did, I'd die of boredom as it's really long. However, seeing as you're obviously not satisfied, here's s'more:

  • Dead Head Fred
  • Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
  • Parappa the Rapper
  • Crazi Taxi: Fare Wars
  • Dungeons and Dragons Tactics
  • Jean D'arc
  • Monster Hunter Freedom 2
  • Coded Arms Contagion
  • Star Wars Battlefont: Renegade Squadron
  • Hot PXL
  • Disgaea
  • GT4 Mobile (if it ever comes out. Damn Polyphony and their forever delayed games...)
  • Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion
  • Xyanide Ressurection
  • Riviera: Promised Land

Depends on what kind of games you like. For FPS, the DS seems to be doing well in that area. Same as platformers and...'unique' games that use the stylus to make things rather interesting. PSP has a pretty good library of racers, the upcoming God of War, and Loco Roco. it's your call.
