I have a PSP, and I have to say, it's a great handheld with a lot of potential, but the problem is most devs don't use it. Most just make a remake or spin-off of an already popular game on the PS2 which doesn't help motivate me to buy it. I know some people say that's good cuz it's like the console on the go, but for me, handhelds are meant to be faster and simpler games.
But this isn't always the case, Pokemon and Advance Wars are both examples of more complex and longer games.
But anyway, the problem I have with the PSP is that not enough original games are on it. Unlike the DS, where there are games you will never see on consoles, the PSP has games which can be easily played on consoles, which is what kills it for me. That and the lack of enough original games.
Still, even this late into the race, if devs start using the PSP's untapped potential to make fun and unique games that can't be found on consoles, I think it could redeem itself in my eyes. Disgaea and FF: Tactics are looking really good to me right now though.
what do you think about it? whether you have one or not state your opinions.. canucks_luongo1
Meh... (that's my opinion of it)
BTW, awesome avatar!
Luongo fan. Wassup bud.
PSP's great. It will see a lot of releases later on and it already has quite a few good games for it.
It's a very poorly designed handled, my friend haved one, but it fell from like less than 2 feet and it broke. it's like that sucks.DeadBullet
Get a case.
A great system hampered by a bunch of smaller issues (i.e. mediocre battery life, dead pixel issues, controll issues, loading times) with several great games, but it lacks the variety of games and the amount of quirky, unique games the DS has.
It's not bad at all... I'll just always view it as less preferable to my DS.
NOTE: I do not own one, but have extensive time playing the PSP and intend to buy one this summer.

That's not a really good argument against the PSP. A lot of devs have remakes or spin-offs of popular games fthat were made for the Nintendo systems... Mario 64, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Castlevania, Final Fantasy 3, Resident Evil, heck even Phoenix Wright came out on the GBA (1,2 and 3 in Japan) before it came out on the DS.
Other "original games" like Nintendogs, Advance Wars, Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright (some say this is original even though it's a port), Elite Beats.... some of those original games have or will have a PSP counterpart.
Advance Wars = Field Commander
Phoenix Wright = Harvey Birdman
Elite Beats = DJ Portable Max (different kind of gameplay, but very similar type of game)
The only other two original games that I listed are Trauma Center and Nintendogs, but if you go by the "why play a game on a handheld when you can play the console version?", then you'd have to throw out Trauma Center out of that list. The only original game is Nintendogs.... hmm...

Lumines (for a time), Mercury Meltdown (for a time), Cube, Crush (yet to come), Jean D'Arc (yet to come), Final Fantasy VII:CC(yet to come), SWAT (yet to come, dunno if it will be any good though), Pursuit Force, EXIT, Ultimate Block Party, WTF, Gurumin, Field Commander, Sid Meier's Pirates, Daxter, Killzone: Liberation, Metal Gear Acid series, Tokobot, Loco Roco are all examples of games that cannot be found on a current or last gen console. The only problem is if these games have no appeal to you (that would be your opinion, which I cannot argue).
The idea that the PSP has no original games is not true at all, but everyone seems to turn a blind eye when there are some examples shown that prove otherwise.
