PSU.com - Official Response to "Faked" Interview Claim.

Contrary to recent claims - we did not fake a recent interview with Valve. This is a wildly preposterous and libellous accusation that is completely unfounded and we treat it extremely seriously.

We have no reason to "fake" an interview and we would urge any proponent of this claim to take a serious, revised and considered look at our list of recent interviews we have conducted with many of the leading games development companies, publishers and industry experts in future before making such a baseless claim. (See link below).

PSU Interviews List

We did not counter this accusation sooner as we felt it frankly ridiculous and was not even worth addressing. However, for the benefit of our readership and to once and for all quash this speculative nonsense that seems to have recently arisen once again we thought it best to issue a brief public statement.

Some Background

The article went up circumventing our editors and normal quality control procedures which was the primary reason for the article containing some certain spelling/grammar issues. The interview was also conducted over the telephone - not by e-mail or in person which meant much of the responses had to be rewritten, leading to some other quality issues which should have been dealt with before this article went live. The authors names were not given at the request of the authors themselves.

We post numerous interviews every week from a wide variety of high profile developers and whilst we fully accept that the article did not meet our usual meticulous standard but the claim that the article is "fake" is a completely false one.

And finally at Valves request we were asked to pull the article, for various unrelated reasons. This was nothing to do with the validity of the article, but we believe it is the right of any company we conduct an interview with to request us to take down an article if it is their wish and we always honour such requests as part of our pledge to honour the wishes of our industry friends/partners.

Hahaha, they're obviously BS'ing so they don't dump what little credibility they have down the toilet. Yes, Valve gave you an interview, then asked you to pull it. I feel bad if you believe this.

Let me get this straight....first off they DID give out two names of people supposedly involved in that interview "Charles Kieg-programmer" and "Mike Nab-designer" now they are saying the authors names were not given at the request of the author's themselves?Or are they talking about the person they got to do the interview? Odd any way you slice it.

Then they say Valve requested the article be pulled for "various unrelated reasons". Why not state them?

The 360 and PS3 versions are being handled by two separate design teams. The PS3 version is being done by an EA studio in the UK. They seemed to have talked to two people who somehow knew all about both versions. :?

Here's a link to Valve's website with its people. Suprisingly enough those names don't appear on it.

http://www.valvesoftware.com/people.html

Maybe its complexer than any of us can imagine.

We took the interview down by request of Gabe, CEO of Valve. Part of the agreement to publish the interview was that our staff would not publish it on N4g.com.

Well soon after the interview went live on PSU, the interview showed up on N4g.com. Then Valve was upset with us cause we broke our agreement and they asked that we pull the whole thing down. Even on N4g.com.

We will do another interview soon with Valve cause they want to apologize for what happened. We have not reposted the interview because it was deleted when we took it down.

Update: There was no reason for us to fake an interview with Valve. Look at our long list of interviews and you can see we have no problem conducting them with studios:

So not only did Valve conveniently ask PSU to take down the post after claims of it being false, but as well the interview was also conveniently lost because it ended up being deleted in the process of it being taken down.

how am i in denial mode? parts of the interview can be found here

and here is one of YOUR comments on the interview

Its interesting how they interviewed "Valve" and not so and so from Valve. Its also interesting how "Valve" uses the term "complexer" which isn't even a proper word. But PSU is like official and stuff right?JiveT

-Renegade

Dude GET OUT OF DENIAL MODE. They put those two names on there and the proof is staring you in the face right on GOOGLE. You don't have to dig anything up. I did the digging for you! ;)

how am i in denial mode? parts of the interview can be found here

and here is one of YOUR comments on the interview

Its interesting how they interviewed "Valve" and not so and so from Valve. Its also interesting how "Valve" uses the term "complexer" which isn't even a proper word. But PSU is like official and stuff right?JiveT

Yeah that was until I REALLY studied this whole debacle. When you printed their explanation. I didn't know they had put names to it until I read that evilavatar message. Apparently they added the names just before they took down the article entirely. And its clear they did in fact add those names because Google comes up with a straight PSU link that lists those names.

What a colosalblunder. They either copied that whole story from that users post or someone sent it to them and said that they had a sit down interview. Either way you put it PSU was pretty unethical there.

The interview with Valve was not fake. In fact, just to prove it, we are holding another interview with Valve...this time with Gabe, the CEO.

I am just sick of hearing people bash PSU for this. It was a legit interview and by the time we input the names, Valve asked us to take the interview down due to the interview being posted on N4g.com. That was our agreement with Gabe was that no one from our staff was to post the interview on N4g.com. When it went live on N4g.com, we were then asked to remove it as well as ask N4g.com to remove the article.

sorry but PSU.com would have to do far more to avoid being bashed, lol. it's not JUST this interview that has people thinking it's a bit of a joke. trust me.

agree - anyone who refers to AI as being 'complexer' is definitely not a dev, and that isn't a typo, that's a sentence-o.

accepting submissions from forum fanboys without reading the first dozen words FTW!
