What I've been calling it for weeks: a monster mash. Or even an action-adventure. I haven't played it, but the GameTralers review says so: the emphasis is on killing enemies, while the platforming elements are weak at best.

Haven't played the actual game or the demo, but Psychonauts will always hold a special place in my heart.
