Punch Out!! builds on the strengths of the NES original in some smart, simple ways that, when combined with a stylish, playful presentation, makes for a terrific experience.

Nostalgia is strong with some reviewers. Punch Out is great but man the lack of characters is disturbing... Nintendo could've added a few more...

I'm having trouble believing that Punchout is this good. It had far exceeded my expectations.

I have to agree. I'm sure the game is good, but at least I want ALL the past boxers and a few new ones. Maybe there will be a sequel filling the gaps and adding more.

Same here.

I haven't read a review yet that said 'it's over before you know it' or something to that effect. There seems to be an ample amount of challenge, which is good news.

Because you are hearing those issues from flamers. All the so called expects on this board which have not played the game seem to have many issues with it. :P

You could have just as much fun by buying Punch Out off the virtual console, but there are certainly worse ways to spend fifty bucks.

Mhmm, I would agree. I reckon its like SF4... a new coat of an old game, all the hype, all the critical acclaim, you play it and think ... "is this it?"

The game adds to the classic Punchout!! formula. Just so you all know, Punchout!! for WiiWare got a 9.0 here, it would make little sense if this got lower than an 8.

I am expecting a AA

Then again both Giant Bomb's review and X-Play's talk about how hard the game can be. I have seen Gamespot knock off points for that reason.

From Gamespy which gave the game 4.5 out of 5 "Critics and fans have expressed much bellyaching over the fact that "only" 13 fighters rise to the occasion (well, assuming you don't count the hidden 14th fight -- a wild surprise I certainly won't spoil), but that's a bunch of knee-jerk nonsense. All things considered, the total stands at 26 fights... and things get really interesting in that back half." 26 rounds in a fighting game is still a lot "I'm calling it right here: Punch-Out!! is destined to become one of this generation's top classics, right up there with Super Mario Galaxy. It's one heckuva peace offering for Nintendo's jilted lifers, an elaborate brainteaser for everyone who picks it up, and absolutely the best Punch-Out!! to date. If you're still fishing for a reason to own a Wii, this is it." 26 fights

No. YOU could have just as much fun by buying the Punch Out off the virtual console. I have to believe the experience with the new version is a bit better.

I thought this would be good news until I saw who it was by... Ryan Davis is an even worse reviewer than Jeff Gerstmann. How dare he bash Dewy's Adventure for being "too kiddy." That's flat-out ignorant.

Wow this is bad, the game is recieving too many 9's. Now fanboys are going to say the game is hyped AAA and try to claim mega ownage when if it scores A for example.

I think im going to make a thread later on about where hype is coming from and its early reviews. Most early reviews always tend to be high which leads fanboys thinking thats what its being hyped.

The review has a massive spoiler.
In the related pages on the side it mentions Donkey Kong. He's the final opponent in the game.
street fighter 4 ?

It has 25 playable characters, it plays considerably different from the old SFs, there have been many gameplay changes and new elements, it has a wide range of challenge modes, it has online play with various modes.

So far all reviews i have read have not complained about value. Actually they praise it for how much content is in the game. Complaints i have seen are motion controls not accurate and too many same characters.
