Still a far cry from the Wii/DS days when both combined sold 260+ million units.

And they’re trying to tell us the Xbox numbers are good. Lol!

The industry is booming, and Nintendos financials illustrate that. A console in its 6th year in the market kicking ass is good to see.

Wait, the TotK sold 18 million in less than 2 months?!?! In a non holiday quarter?! And look at the rest of the best selling software numbers.

The 10 best-selling first-party Switch titles are:

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 55.46 million
  2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 42.79 million
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 31.77 million
  4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 30.65 million
  5. Super Mario Odyssey – 26.44 million
  6. Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield – 25.92 million
  7. Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet – 22.66 million
  8. Super Mario Party – 19.39 million
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – 18.51 million (New)
  10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 16.17 million

TotK just came out lol. Just crazy…

Nintendo plans to release the Switch 2 because they know there is no company besides themselves that can make a better console than the Switch.

Call me when their systems are able to run ps3 looking titles like Bayo 3 with non N64 visuals. Its hard to take this system seriously when it can't handle anything being made for it.

While the Switch numbers do look good, but you can tell they are declining though. Switch is 7yrs old, and since Nintendo is gearing up for their own next-gen console, it makes sense to see Switch sales slowly dying.

If anyone doesn't have a switch at this given point, just wait for next-gen.

All that and Nintendo still doesn't make a game I care about.

Mario/Zelda/Pokemon 🥱

Congrats I guess.

@ghostofgolden: Breath of the Wild was available on two platforms, but Tears of the Kingdom on a single platform. If the latter's sales surpasses the former, it would be impressive as until a few years ago, I never thought that a Zelda game would sell over ten million copies worldwide and go against Super Mario, Super Smash Bros., and Pokemon.

What are the factors for the high sales for Tears of the Kingdom?

Good to see the Zelda franchise finally begin to sell as well as its quality deserves. Nice that Animal Crossing has reached astronomical numbers too. New Horizons was an event in 2020. And man, all the Pokémon games together equal to 99+ million in software sales on Switch. Crazy numbers.

A lot of awesome games in that list there. Nintendo really hit it big with the Switch. Kudos to them.

Switch is a beast. Almost every first-party IP has smashed franchise sales records on the Switch. Even middle-tier Switch games are outselling top-tier games on other platforms.

When I went to watch the Mario movie on opening weekend, there was a Tears of the Kingdom trailer playing right before the movie started. Nintendo announced that the Mario movie has grossed over $1.3B from over 168M tickets sold at cinemas around the world. That's a ton of free promo for Zelda, exposing a whole new audience to the franchise.

@mesome713: I can't think of a single first-party game that sold under a million for the Switch.
