But why make an entire game based on them? Heavy rain looks solid, no denying that, but am I just pressing buttons the whole time? Does it get anymore interactive than that? Sure the possibilities are endlessduring the storywhen you hit/miss a button, but I could see the over use of quick time events being this game's downfall.

Thoughts?

Play Farenheit, that's pretty much what you're getting.

I played the demo back in the day, and it was solid. But what I've seen for Heavy Rain doesn't look the same. A lot of quick button presses look like that's all the game has got going for itself

As much as we know about the game there is still much we dont know, one thing is for sure it wont be for everyone. Kinda like caviar its gonna a be a refined taste.

It felt good in Fahrenheit. If it's similar in Heavy Rain, it'll be good. It's not like it's a current gen version of Dragon's Lair or anything. At least I hope it isn't going to be...

Well Publishers like to show the big moments of action and suspense to better promote their game. So that's why the load of QTE's. Look at the "club scene" and you'll see why there is a new wave of hype for this game. It's totally immersive.

That may be because they're showing the action pieces to enhance excitement. Fahrenheit was a slow burn game with the emphasis or character interaction and story rather than fights. When the action sequences came though, they were very exciting!

QTE's are fine, just don't like them being over used.

Well it's pretty much like a normal game...controller input followed by immediate respone to players action. unlike other games that utilise QTE's where pressing one button results in an entire action sequence. It also allows the action to be more cinematic as keeping track of the entire scene isn't necessary all the time.

Not to forget the sequence where the FBI agent was locked in the car heading to the crusher...how could you do that without QTE or assigning 20 million different controller configs for the different circumstances in the game?

imo for the story-driven style of Heavy Rain the QTE's are a perfect fit, obviously its not to everyone's taste and it won't work in every game but nothing ever is/does.
