Quantum Break’s 1080p output is a temporal reconstruction from four previous 720p 4xMSAA frames. This approach gets us high pixel quality in combination with complex shading and effects, allowing us to achieve a cinematic look. However, varying sample counts between passes and temporal upscaling makes talking about resolution, as it is traditionally understood, complicated in the case of Quantum Break. Since the start of “Quantum Break’s” development, the most important thing for Remedy and Microsoft has been delivering a compelling gaming experience with superior artistic quality. This is what Remedy is renowned for. We’re confident that we have achieved this, and can’t wait to hear what fans think on April 5 when they play the game.

http://www.inquisitr.com/2911665/quantum-break-early-impressions-how-does-quantum-break-hold-up-in-its-opening-moments/

So confirmed to be higher than 720p

Some choice quotes:

  • They definitely keep you yearning for more, that’s for sure.
  • Phil Spencer: I encourage you to try a game before you make any pre-judgements about what makes a game good or bad.
  • the art direction Remedy has taken with Quantum Break is definitely beautiful
  • cutscenes are well detailed
  • great character model work
  • people you see take a prominent or lead role in the live show are beautifully rendered in-game as well
  • Quantum Break’s gameplay draw, though, are those time powers.
  • It never gets old
  • Speaking of Quantum Break’s Live Action Show, this is where Quantum Break really sets itself apart from other action games. Most other games tell their story through an interweaving of gameplay and cutscenes, which Quantum Break does. However, rarely do games show the other side of the story, the true motivations of your enemy. Quantum Break does this, and it give a whole new appreciation of what’s going on in the early stages.
  • Early on, Quantum Break definitely is intriguing.

Geek Preview: Quantum Break Blows Our Expectations Away

http://geekculture.co/geek-preview-quantum-break-blows-our-expectations-away/

Conclusion: "To be perfectly honest, despite being a big fan of Remedy’s past games, I was a little apprehensive about how Quantum Break would turn out, given how ambitious it sounded. But I came away from this preview with my fears assuaged. Quantum Break is really shaping up to be a quality action game with a intriguing premise, fantastic production values, and brilliant presentation. I absolutely look forward to playing through the full game over the coming days, and you can expect a full review here on Geek Culture soon!"

Sounds like a fun game and great looking game to me. I can't believe the day is almost here!

Yeah. So far, all the early previews have been raving about this game. This could indeed be the game of the year. Though it might be hard to beat out Gears 4 coming this fall as well.

It's defiantly currently winning the damage control award.

Well, I agree. The cows are working over time.

The important thing here is that we are finding out the game is doing awesome with reviews, and is blowing people away. Graphically it is getting raved as well. Sounds like a win win for the consumer!!

And so far it's only pre-emptive, can barely wait till the game's actually released!

Indeed, Win10 is loaded for bear this year and Gears 4 is a Biggie and is said to really be a showcase title for The One in the way Gears was for 360.

Man, judging by all the fear & tears caused by QB here, can you imaging the tears Gears 4 will cause? This gun b gud !!

How many QB threads do we really need here? Since when this game became such a big deal all of a sudden?

Quoting myself from another thread, no need to spread misinformation here you halfwit.

So it's 720p with 4xmsaa lol. You lem rats have no idea what Remedy meant do ya lol? Basically you can reconstruct any 720p game to a 1080p frame, take a last gen Gears at 720p and apply the same frame reconstruction technique and boom you get 1080p. But only temporarily! It's totally meaningless, in still it might be ok since the engine doesn't update new locations but in motion the frame simply couldn't keep up. So basically since the game locks at 30fps and requires 4 720p frames to build a 1080p frame, divide 30 by 4 you get 7.5, so you only see every forth frame as 1080p and only 7.5 times in one second, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd frame is 720p. It's just a simple algorithm that you use to get a temporary 1080p by reusing previously stored low res frames because you don't wanna waste them. You still see 22.5 frames as 720p per second, but mix in the reconstructed frames you might get a sense of higher res sometimes.

Another word the game is still by and large 720p, it's rendering far less pixels than a true native 1080p game per second, or even a 900p game if count the number of pixels rendered per second. Deal with it you lem rats, the game severely lacks in iq and you only have a weak xbone to thank for.

Yeah, it shouldn't take long before the cows enter this thread and ruin it with lies and BS. The important thing here is that the game is just looking amazing, and could end up getting graphics of the year. And the gameplay it mind blowing. That my friend is a recipe of success. Not surprised Remedy did it again, making yet another great game.

Quantum Break Xbox One Video Preview – Tight as a Twist in Time

1080p

Microsoft has given us plenty of time to experience Quantum Break before its release on April 5th, and the inevitable review that you can expect soon enough, so we decided to do something a little different.

Instead of playing the game and then sitting down in front of my computer writing my impressions, I just recorded them as I was playing act 1-2 and 1-3 live, with no filters or restraints, beside the fact that were certain parts of the game that, for now, we aren’t allowed to show.

You’ll see me learn the controls, explore the first areas of the game, start to cope with Jack Joyce’s budding time powers and with his early enemies. You’ll even hear me curse a little, and swoon at just how good the game looks.

It also plays really tight from what I have experienced so far, and while the jury is still out on the final verdict that will have to take in account the whole experience from start to finish, you’ll probably notice in the video that I had a whole lot of fun.

Of course, keep in mind that the video includes spoilers from the act 1-2 and 1-3, and the beginning of the first episode of the TV show. They’re fairly mild because we’re close to the beginning of the story, but if you want to go in blind on April 5th, you may want to skip it.

Incidentally, this is very much an experiment. I’ve never done something like this, and it’ll probably show. Do let us know if it’s something you’re interested in seeing again, or if Giuseppe unfiltered is a nightmare that better remain buried in the deepest depths of hell.

Second Son looked way better and it was a fully open world launch window game while Remedy had years of delays to polish this game and still only managed 720p. Who gets the blame xbots - Remedy or weak hardware?

Holy crap, the great previews are coming in RAMPANT, and damn...this one is just THROUGH THE ROOF!

http://www.windowscentral.com/preview-hands-quantum-breaks-time-bending-first-act-xbox-one-pc

Plot points aside, I firmly believe Quantum Break represents a quantum leap for digital storytelling. We've all seen the trailers, but witnessing familiar actors like Shawn Ashmore and Aidan Gillen rendered so precisely, so accurately, running live on a regular Xbox One is nothing short of incredible. Those tiny facial cues we take for granted in real life have a profound effect on communication, and their appearance in-game helps you connect with the characters in a far more powerful way than in a lesser title.

the results are staggering

I've touched on Quantum Break's character visuals, but what of its general design? Quantum Break represents yet another technical marvel.

what Remedy have offered so far has been astonishing

I've made the point in an earlier preview that Quantum Break's time-bending super-powers have directly impacted every aspect of the game's visual design. Every bullet from every gun, every fragment from the Quantum Breaks's highly destructible environments, every mundane object that gives the world believability — they're physical entities that can be manipulated (often heavily) by the game's physics-based combat abilities. Surveying destroyed objects, mid-air tracer rounds and contorted enemies suspended in fields of broken time gives you an idea of just how much load Quantum Break is placing on the Xbox One's hardware. At times, it feels like you're cavorting through a grand, pre-rendered movie straight from of big-budget Hollywood visual effects studio.

If the sheer amount of objects — both large and tiny — rendered in real time doesn't impress you, then the vivid effects Jack Joyce's time powers have on the environment just might. Every ability you use sends out a tide of liquid ripples across every surface of the game, disturbing, and sometimes smashing destructible objects, representing the violent manipulation of the laws of physics.

Between impressive anti-aliasing, moody lighting, liberal use of film grain and cutting-edge motion capture work, Quantum Break is a cinematic treat that should enthrall Remedy fans and graphic hounds alike. A question mark hangs over the game's final resolution, and at times, texture popping can be quite rough, but as mentioned, this isn't final code. I'll report back any improvements after the title update drops, which should be some before the game's April 4th launch.

Looking at that gif above, I gotta say that it looks good but not as good as Second Son to say the least and Second Son is a 2 year old game and still looks amazing by today's standards.

The first/second party games are really exposing the power gaps on these consoles. Just look how much better Ratchet & Clank looks compared to Sunset Overdrive and those are from the same developer.

Looks like a solid game. "Just fine" according to Gamespot during yesterday's livestream. It'll be interesting for reviewers to go from Quantum Break to Uncharted 4. It'll help them see the extra freedom and larger environments that Uncharted 4 has.
