Question about the credibility of this article regarding the 3ds.

http://sillegamer.com/2011/09/12/nintendo-planning-major-3ds-revision-for-2012-gamesmaster-nov-2011-rumor/

does this seem legit to you guys?

Before returning to GS I took a longish break from gaming b/c of college, I'm sure i missed a lot og gaming news during my hiatus from gaming and was wondering if GS had confirmed anything like this? Apperently the 3DS is getting revision and it will have a 2nd stick. Since this is system wars feel free to bash the 3DS for getting a revision, but I was hoping sheep king Charizard would confirm or deny. I'm planning on getting 3DS eventually but I'll put it off it the article is right. Only game I want right now is MK7 anyway.

Nothing has been announced. While it is an eventuality that there will be a revision, Nintendo have not said anything about this at all, so expect it tro be a while before we hear anything.

Did you read the article? It is nothing more than a baseless rumor by some random website. While I do not doubt that Nintendo will announce a revision, I doubt we will see one in 2012. Nintendo is going to want to push the Wii-U this year, and launching a 3DS revision so soon might prove harmful to Wii-U sales or harmful to the image of the company. Nintendo normally waits two years before launching a revision.

Here's an article excerpt: "According to extremely reliable sources, Nintendo reportedly regrets the startling lack of a second circle pad on the device and are gearing up to release a drastically revised and rebranded handheld which will feature a second circle pad and will radically tone down the 3D features." Radically tone down the 3D features? I'm calling BS on this. The 3D aspect of the 3DS, while one of the major selling points, is completely optional, so I see no reason for them to "tone them down". That's what the 3D slider is for. Remember, it's just a rumor, so don't go taking this as absolute fact or anything because it suits your views. Wait for a confirmation from Nintendo themselves.

DS came out December 2004 and the redesign came out March 2006 (1 year 3 months). The 3DS came out in February 2011 so by the previous metric we should get one in June 2012, but I don't think we'll see one until Q4.

Why do your posts always read like you're mad?

And there's nothing wrong with a revision. Apple and Sony release one every year so why can't Nintendo? It's not like their previous models are defective, like RROD Xbox 360s or anything. They're perfectly functional.

Either way, I wouldn't want a second slider pad. It just gives devs a the ability to make lazy games.

Because navigating in 3D worlds with one analogue stick sucks. Ive played Metroid Hunters on the DS and the controls sucked. Nintendo had a chance to add a second analogue stick in the design for the 3DS and they didn't.

Its like when Iwata said back in 2004 that gamers do not want online games. What a fuking idiot. As usual, Nintendo think they know best when they clearly don't.

The controls in Hunters were amazing, just because YOU suck with them doesn't mean they sucked. The sylus as a second stick a was made with the KB&M in mind and as a result its far more precise then two sticks or sliders. Go back to your sh*tty 360 and its idiotic FPS's. You're the moron not ninty. At least they will make a redesign and fix their mistakes you apprently, will always be stupid.

I think that's cos he is :P .

And on topic, I agree, it's fine for there to be revisions, technology evolves quickly, so it would only be natural to make simple iterations of the same console rather than making a whole new platform.

I was quite surprised when they didn't have 2 in the first place. Would have thought they would see how Sony did it in the previous generation. Ah well

Yeah, except its still majorly flawed as when you have your right hand holding the stylus to aim you can't use the face buttons on the right hand side, therefore it sucks so shut the fuk up.

And yeah, they made a stupid mistake by not listening to anyone and acting like they know whats best. And now their backtracking and fuking over the early adopters.

Im talking in general. If a developer is forced to map aiming to the stylus, then the face buttons are off limits which limits functionality. Its stupid and you're stupid.

not true because you have a touch screen fool ,you can use it for more then aiming easily. And You attacked MPH. Maybe next time you should use an example that you have attually played. You call me stupid and ninty stupid yet you have the audacity to wear a halo avatar around GS. LOL halo is barely a step above cod anymore. I don't even know why I responded to your first pst. You're obbviously trolling and its also obvious that you're too stupid to actually comprehend anything i say. Its over you fu(ked up next time try harder.

Stopped reading there. Metroid Prime: Hunters-style touchscreen aim is far better than clumsy analog aiming, more like aiming with a computer mouse in terms of precision and ability to quickly change targets, and I get pissed when 3DS developers don't implement it. Not to say that they shouldn't support the 3DS Circle Pad Pro for more traditional control, but if RE: Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D are any indication, they're going in the wrong direction by not supporting both. I don't expect Kid Icarus: Uprising to change this trend because of the reviewer backlash against its controls in spite of using practically the same controls as Metroid Prime: Hunters, which fared better in reviews overall, even here on GameSpot (where the controls were PRAISED).

I said this if you read our arguement it obvious that he has never picked up a ds in his life let alone MPH. I F*cken loved that game. It was my first fps, (I mainly played pokemon mario and zelda up to that point.) and seeing this ignorant douche bag saying ingorant sh*t about the best fps on DS and one of ninty's better fps's, and my favorite fps, kinda pisses me off.

This rumor goes back to July 2011, when the 3DS was floundering, the price cut hadn't been announced, the second analog add on was just a rumor, and the system seemed doomed to fail. As of right now, it's a rumor. There will definitely be a revision sometime soon, most likely in early 2013, but of you want to be sure before you buy a 3DS yourself, just wait till E3. We'll know for sure there.

where would they put the 2nd circle pad? on the right side are the a.b.x and y buttons. putting the circle pad below would make it awkward. putting the buttons below the circle would make it uncomfortable as well. if they were to add the 2nd circle the 3ds would be longer which wouldn't make it very portable.

The thing that makes this article BS to me, is them toning down the 3d. the 3D is the main feature of it. I could see them fixing the ghosting effect but toning the 3d down, i don't think so. And there is a freaking slider on it already where you can change the intensity of the 3d.

If there is a revision it probably wont be until spring of 2013.

A kick in the teeth compared to who? The Vita and it's poor sales or Microsoft and it's nonexistent handheld?

They've redesigned every handheld they've ever released since the Game & Watch. Like this is any different.

[QUOTE="helwa1988"]

where would they put the 2nd circle pad? on the right side are the a.b.x and y buttons. putting the circle pad below would make it awkward. putting the buttons below the circle would make it uncomfortable as well. if they were to add the 2nd circle the 3ds would be longer which wouldn't make it very portable.

The thing that makes this article BS to me, is them toning down the 3d. the 3D is the main feature of it. I could see them fixing the ghosting effect but toning the 3d down, i don't think so. And there is a freaking slider on it already where you can change the intensity of the 3d.

If there is a revision it probably wont be until spring of 2013.

wy wouldn't it work there is a d pad below the circle pad on the left.. is it uncomfortable to use it?

Yes the d pad is uncomfortable to use. I hardly use it. I tried using the d pad for gb games and I got major thumb cramps.

Sales have picked up, they are just now turning a profit on it starting April 1st (this fiscal year) so no. Not before April 1st, 2013. They'd be silly to do so, they're going to sell another 15-18 million units this year worldwide, and they've got the Wii U to worry about. I'd say a redesign in 2013 late, or early 2014. Remember the DS Lite was on market from 2006 until 2009 before the DSi came out. Also, there is no guarantee the Circle Pad Pro will be in it, since y'know it will SUPER HARD to build in those extra shoulder buttons without destroying its portability, that and Nintendo isn't shipping anymore Circle Pad Pro's ATM.
