Does upscaling those games actually make them look smoother, not in terms of texture quality obviously, but just in terms of overal sharpness?

If this is the case, and these games were not originally made in these resolutions so it is basically just a firmware feature, does it mean it is theoretically possible for Nintendo to release a small update in the future that could at least let it's Wii games run in a higher resolution on TVs that could support it?

You raise a great question, I too love Halo: Combat Evolved.

The games look better -- not PS3 game standard but still better than on PS2 or PS1 ...

As for Nintendo adding upscaling, its possible but highly unlikly -- unless the Wii has a scaler chip im afraid it's performance would take a large hit upscaling games ...

They look a hell of a lot of better on a HDTV, I can actually see Carl Johnson's face instead of a jaggy mess that he was before.

So, if a similar feature was implemented on Wii, and I assume it is possible since the Wii can also have updates, then I suppose it would be possible to slilghtly clean up the low resolutions and pixelated/jaggy look of most Wii games.

It probably will never happen but at least I can hope! I mean it's not as if this feature means developers will have to worryqbout this when making Wii games, or that the cost and time of development will go up, or that they will have to worry about memory and power restrictions etc.

That being the case I really think it is something that Nintendo should just add as an update later on, unless there is some reason I am missing why this would be a huge hassle to implement...

PS1 games aren't too noticable. Maybe a little smoother but not that much of a difference. PS2 games have a much more noticable difference. FFXII, God of War 2, MGS3 just to name a few. There's also an option in the display setting for a full range hdmi. Not sure if all hdtv's support it but mine does. And does it ever give you a great sense of color, clear black, gaming with PS3 games. Big difference in Tekken: DR when I started playing that today. Motorstorm as well. I wish I had a cam to show people what I see. It's impressive in terms of finally seeing some good PS3 love.

As awesome as that'd be for those of us using Wii on HDTV monitors, I don't think Wii actually has the processing power to upscale most games. I'm sure some could be pulled off, but something like SSX running at 60fps I'm not so sure.

Wii doesn't even do HD res.  N blatantly said no HD so why are you calling them liars?Â
