Yes, had a near launch system that got it after about a year and a half. Warrantied it out. When it broke my girlfriend didnt know it was under warranty and bought me an elite. I sold the repaired launch system to a friend and it still works. My elite got it once about a year ago. Got it warrantied as well and it is still fine.
Ive had two 360's red ring and one PS3 disc drive malfunction.
Suprisingly Sony's customer service was easier to go through, but in the end they charged me way too much for the repair, anything thats not user error should be covered for atleast 5 years.

yea the problem is the time it took to get it repaired you could have been using playing a game and now the launch 360s dont have a warranty so the people that still has their launch 360s and has theirs break down now will have to pay for something that's not their fault.
How do you guys keep your launch consoles from breaking? I got an xbox 360in August 2008 and it broke last year.
I honestly don't know why people try to refute that GAME INFORMER 54% as if it's hard to believe or something.
Among all owners who have bought their systems in 2005 and 2006, hardly any of them can claim to never having a problem.
The fact that it's only approx 50% is a near miracle in itself.
Yes, I think that percentage is accurate. I think I personally don't know anyone who's 360 hasn't broken.I honestly don't know why people try to refute that GAME INFORMER 54% as if it's hard to believe or something.

No, it hasn't... and the generalization that "every" 360 gets it is quite an over-blown assumption, especially given how some people (even on this very board) still are running launch 360's. And the people who claim to have gone through 10 or more 360's are obviously doing something wrong on their end (or are making it up)... there is no reason to have that many fail on you.

I don't think everyone has had a problem. I have a launch console Jan 06 and have never had a problem with it. Another person who I know has a launch console like Nov 06 has never had a problem with it. It does happen. I'm not disputing the 50% issue, but I would say that of that 50% alot of it is repeat offenders. I know one person who had sent in his console 3 times and kept getting back "refurb" consoles that would last about a month or two. When the warranty finally ended he bought a new one in like Jan 08 and has never had another problem.
My point....that MS was just sending out refurbed consoles they thought were fixed but then had more problems. Not really MS' fault if the test software they were using said the consoles were ok. I used to work in the electronics industry and I can't tell you the amount of times we would check boards, even in ESS (hot and cold stress) and they would pass with flying colors. Only to be installed in a server, then fail just running at room temperature after they were returned to the customer. Some boards we just had to scrap even though we could never get them to fail for us. Our policy was after one failure and one return it was scrapped. Microsoft should have followed this same policy instead of re-streeting junk.

You misunderstand the survey.
The Game Informer survey didn't coun't multiple problems.....The survey only asked people if they've EVER had a problem. So regarless if "Little Jonhnny's" XBOX broke 1 time or 10 times, he is counted as 1....according to that Game Informer survey.
So basically, approx 50% of everyone who has ever bought an XBOX 360 since 2005 has had at least 1 malfunction. That's according to Game Informer, and it sounds about accurate.
how is that possible? :xDon't know, but it wasn't a pretty sight. Luckily I got it replaced within the week. Haven't had a problem from either of my 360's since.[QUOTE="unknown37"]
I have 2 360s. One I got in 2006 and the other 2008. The first rrrod'd after about 2 years, and the other rrod'd right out of the box.
Zaibach
Purchased my 360 in April 2006 and never got the RROD.
But TBH a couple years ago I did have a CPU problem and had to send it in for repair :?but thank goodness I got it back on the same day Halo 3 launched. :D

You also misunderstand the survey, this was an informal, non-scientific poll of game informer readers. It in no way represents an accurate cross section of XBOX 360 owners and cannot be used to represent any facts whatsoever. I believe the 30% or maybe even 50 % failure rate of launch consoles, since the only two people who ever had one had them failed, but I do not know anyone who has had a zephyr or later console die on them.I had a falcon go e74 but I got a lot of play out of it so I wasn't too upset.
I now have a Jasper that I use for both games and movies and it always stays cool.
The early adopters of the 360 got screwed. The original 360 was not only prone to RROD but also noisy as hell.
