Having owned the PS3 since launch, how do you stay loyal after all of the failed promises? A mediocre game library so far, graphics comparable to 360, etc etc. Are you disappointed with the purchase and angry with Sony or are you more loyal than ever? Just curious because it seems the early adopters are the most fervent defenders of the PS3. I guess it's to justify paying $600 for a gaming rig.marshall_law_
Please don't call the PS3 a gaming rig. It implies it is better than an actual gaming rig, also known as a PC.
Or maybe everyone is happy with it. Have you ever thought of that? Also Sony is constantly delivering new updates that add features to PS3. A lot of things I never even thought of or expected when I bought my PS3 have been added to it free.EmperorSupreme

no hasnt disapointed me in anyway their giving me the same old fun gaming expierience i've always had with them
loyal?.. well, there are some great games on it.... and a couple of nice blu ray movies (planet earth is a must see for every single person).. all consoles have their share of broken promises and great games...

planet earth on blu-ray is quite magnificint very very outstanding project
The only thing new on the PS3 is the updates for the console. Nearly any exclusive game has been delayed and delayed and then comes out to average reviews aka Haze. I'm sure MGS4 will finally come out and then hey, you'll finally have a exclusive game thats worth playing. And most of those 40 games are on the 360 and generally are voted as having better visuals then the PS3.
It's a movie rig then and it's still a movie rig now.
i am not as happy about my purchase as lunch with the ps3 as with my ps2 at that time.
i probably will take a step i never thought i would, also buying a 360.
my biggest gripe with ps3 atm is the lack of rpg's because i am an rpg addict and thus far the 360 seems to have some great rpg's.

So the games don't count if they're on 360? :| I forgot, multiplatform games don't count.

I'm not ashamed to say that I have it for my HD DVD player and yes, it is truely amazing.btw....before anyone decides to flame me for owning it, my library of movies is absolutely huge and with most HD DVD's selling for under $15 on amazon, I'd be a fool to get rid of it now... :)

In my country there's no XBOX LIVE! So I can't play multiplayer
2. Games in my country cost a lot of money! And PS3 game are region free so I can import them !
3. I can buy from the US PS store with my CC so there's no problem in buying stuff
etc.

When trying to defend a console purchase then no, I don't count games that appear on both. Unless you watch a lot of bluray movies, you could've bought a 360 for cheaper and played the same games and have a better online experience to boot.

I wouldn't say the wii or the 360 has underdeliver on as many promises as the PS3 has. People knew what the had with the wii and the MS didn't make the outrageous promises that Sony did. Yes of there is RROD but I do feel that MS made right by the 3 yr warranty
Iam happy with my purchase. And what are you talking about broken promises? Sony delivers on many other areas that are well worth it also they have been at the top for a long time and they wont let the consumers down imo they have proved it in the past.
I know the reasons I bought my PS3. I didn't buy it because I listened to Sony's marketing.
I did what any reasonable person would do: I followed my favorite game franchies, not the hardware.

Other than Ratchet (which i never liked much), what "favorite game franchises" have the Ps3 delivered as exclusives?
As far as the library goes, it was only mediocre from Jan - MAy of 2007 or so. Other than that, its been great.
As far as promises go, i think they have delivered on many. But there are quite a few that haven't been. But I could say the same for MS and the 360. They made promises that haven't been met. They've had major issues.
Are you saying only Sony has done this?

well, it's true that if PS3 was your only console, you had to either wait for the few gems it has or play games that lacked content.

A ton of things.. A few big ones I can remember off the top of my head are.... updated Blu-ray player profiles, upscaling for DVDs and Playstation games, new Playstation Store, video chat functionality, USB printer / camera support, playlists for music, DLNA support, updates for newer TVs including superwhite and full RGB, PSP remote play, Remote play over the internet, download manager, divx support, etc...

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII in the future.
Aside from playing my PS2 library, to which I can say I'm glad I adopted early, since I got the Emotion Engine chip in my 60GB, I also bought it as a Blu-ray player, which has really been it's main function.
Besides the fact that I got a PS3 because it had two of my favorite franchises, it's the 360's lack of any titles that I cared for that really pushed my decision to buy it.

Omg, and people say that the Wii is the one killing gaming.
what are some of these promises that MS has made? I honestly don't remember them making any that havn't already been delivered on.As far as the library goes, it was only mediocre from Jan - MAy of 2007 or so. Other than that, its been great.

Yeah, in the future, everything is promises so far still, Where's Home?, WHere's LBP? Where's Wipeout HD? In the future... Even the 360 have more adventure and RPGs games.

Well, Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming out in a couple weeks.
I guess I can't buy things in anticipation anymore?
And when did I talk about Home, LBP or Wipeout?
I gave you my reasons, and then you try to set up a strawman.

Here Gates says that PS3 will never catch the 360. Yet, Uncharted caught it right up a few weeks over a year after launch. And, I predict, MGS4 will be added to that list.
I hate to beat a dead horse but when you buy a product, they do promise to give you something reliable. That was broken as well. Along with every fix that didn't work.
Also promised that the non HDD SKUs wouldn't affect anyone or be affected. Wrong.
Don't be so blind as to think the crap flows one way. They ALL make promises and break them. Its the nature of the beast.

Whats funny is that he's acting as if those games should have come out instantly when they were announced. Like all other games give us no wait. It makes no sense. What about all the games that HAVE been released?
I'll give him Home, should have been done by now. Same with in-game XMB (even though he didn't mention it). But to go off about title release dates is humorous. All systems have title delays. Come on!

SO, you bought it for a game not out yet? You could have waited for the bundle you know :P, and Isn't Wipeout a PS franchise?

I would be disappointed if I had nothing decent to play for the whole first year. I'm glad I waited over a year to get my PS3. Got an awesome deal for a 60GB PS3 with games and blu-ray movies for less then a $499 PS3. Everyone who paid $600+ for a PS3 with one controller and no HDMI cable or games got royally screwed. Besides Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, R&C and maybe a couple other titles, there's not much to play on the PS3. All multiplat titles I play on my XBox 360. Much bigger online community and no mandatory installs or long load times.

I never played Wipeout, and I never mentioned it, so I don't know why you brought it up.
And yes, I bought it for games that weren't out yet. And yes, I could have waited for the bundle, but like I said, I also use it to play Blu-ray movies, of which I've watched quite the amount. Besides, I like the color black for my electronics.

Some of the best reasons I've heard for owning a PS3. No wonder so many PS3's are selling in Europe and other international countries. Makes sense now. I wish M$ had made their XBox 360 region free. Sheesh... even the DS and PSP are region free.

So, the games you want will come well after more than a year that you bought the console? I would be disappointed (which i am). But I agree that the ps3 is a great media device though, but this is a video games board.

i'm happy with my purchase for the simple fact that videogames dont control my live. i dont wake up every morning and be like.......man....i really do hate me PS3/360/Wii. playing videogames is nothing more then a hobby for me. you can do a lot more with the PS3 than you can do with the 360?.......can you upgrade the hard drive w/o having to buy something else to transfer your data? and you surf the internet? can you play your old xbox games on the 360?
let ask you the same question. how can you stay loyal to your 360? MS has the same broken promies. since gears of war, name another 360 game that is worth getting? how can you stay loyal to a system that makes your older game worthless? how can you stay loyal to company that pretty much killed its own system? as soon as the 360 came out, what happen to the xbox?......mircosoft pulled them off the shelf and STOPPED supporting it.
think the next time you want to point fingers
i've never been unhappy with my ps3. I got it christmas after it came out. I play games slowly enough that i would beat a game just as a new one i wanted to play came out, and specific games such as MLB the show 08 has really kept me busy for countless hours. I don't regret having it although there were times it was nice to have room mates or close friends with a 360 and wii.
