You can't be blamed for buying into the hype, but a person looking forvalue would do some research to find out which console has the best value.

I have a 360 to fall back on, but I doubt the PS3 will be completely useless regardless of what happens. I really don't want to have to buy that HDDVD addon.

This is what I mean. You won't be falling back on the 360 because it is a much better games console than the PS3. You also don't need a BR player for gaming. Your perceptions are based upon empty hype. Luckily you're in a position to benefit because you'll be able to see what I mean. Most cows won't.

You should tell everyone how you work in the gaming industry again.

It's incredible how comments mutate from one thing into something totally different in less than 24 hours.

Almost equally incredible that you speak of the PS3's architecture when you lack the credentials to do so. Where did you receive your B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering?

I could say the same thing about the $3000 laptop I have my eye on. Why not buy it 4 years later when it will be under $1000? Because I want it now.asmallchild

True. But then again, there are a lot more games available for the PC than the PS3.

The cows usual response to claims that the PS3 has no good games is that the good games are on their way ("buh buh buh... t3h p0tential" anyone?). My question is, if the good games aren't here yet, why did you drop $600 now instead of waiting for the good games and probably a price drop?bloodychimp

Same reason why people drop money on any system at launch. Some like having the latest and greatest things right when they're available. Others may have bought into the hype. People have their reasons.

I have RFOM, VF5, F1, Motorstorm, GTHD and Ridge Racer. That's 6 very solid PS3 exclusives (at least for the next 5 months) I also have 12 Bluray movies and tomorrow I will add the awesome Casino Royale. After being on the market for 4 months, I'd say there are enough reasons to own one. Maybe not enough for someone with specific tastes or not looking for a HD movie player to drop 600 bucks, but there are reasons to own a PS3 right now. michaelareb0001

Wii = Zelda, Trauma Center, Wii Sports. I brand new way to play that has never been done before and I can play it with anyone even people that aren't into games.

360 = DOA4, PDO, Condemned, PGR3, Kameo, CoD2. Those games are still better then the games PS3 has out right now and they were availbe day 1.

All PS3 gives me right now is RFOM and a lot of inferior multiplatfrom ports of 360 games.

PS3,I can watch movies listen to music and playgames and have Online.I can have this for 5 years and get free software upgrades without getting replacement parts.600$ for all this. Laptops = all that and can do Much more but.in 5 years you will have to go out and get new parts for your laptop and buy new software. ^Over a grand just to have spending money to upgrade parts over time,will cost you as much as you bought the laptop for.

i did mention games lol.But he was refering to buying the system or systems for a selective reasons. IE *i bought a PS3,because of a 60 gb HD* or *I bought a wii because i can kill robbers with my nunchuck controller* and last but not least *I bought an Xbox 360,because i can play gears of war* but i was just stating that not everyone buys these things just for those reasons.People buy these things for their own personal wealth of being entertained.Of course people can agree that its mainly for the Games.Even though there are people who do consider systems cheap video and music players as well and so there will be people who buy it for that reason and may not even buy a video game.

First off, it is actually better that the games are not out than if the games were out. The PS3 has two great games right now Resistance and Motorstorm. If there were lets say 10 good games out i would never be able to afford all 10 of those games so I would be missing out. Why not just buy the console early and buy the games when they are released because you actually have the money as opposed to spending $600 and then another $600 on the 10 good games and not even be able to get enjoyment out of them because it is to many games to be playing at one time. Second, the price wont drop for a long long time and there are so many games in 2007 that I want.
