Poll Question for the PC gamers (70 votes)

Yes 17%
No 77%
Maybe 6%

If MS actually made this windows 10/Xbox one Eco system work and all games had cross play, but FPS required PC gamers to use a controller instead of keyboard mouse would you be on board?

In all fairness and imo that's the only way it would truly work with out most console gamers being at a disadvantage right off the rip.

Obviously it should be a choice or game mode/type where you know it's cross play and you join and play while still having access to normal game types using keyboard mouse.

It's simple, don't bridge the competitive gap and this won't be a problem, let PC people play with PC people and let console people play with console people, if they want to play together put another thing out there that allows them to in their own secluded environment.

Having to sacrifice the PC's vastly superior input devices just for things to be fair for console players is counter-intuitive and stupid.

I don't play competitive shooters. So it wouldn't be an issue for me.

@dynamitecop: With this made up senario though I am saying PC people can still have all their game types and play against PC people, and they also have a Crossplay game type that make you use controller, but gives you access to playing with more people and maybe even friends that have Xbox.

Still a no go for you?

I play FPS with a controller on PC and consoles. The only time I use a mouse in games are for RTS. I own bitches with their M/K on a controller but super clickers own me with my controller. Do I care ? Nope, it's just a game.Unreal Tournament is a different story, mouse domination all the way.

I would be fine with that, kind of a side que that allows people to link up together if everyone is using a controller.

However it's still not a good idea with the prevalent cheating that takes place on PC, it will introduce it to console players and do more harm than good.

The whole point of PC is so that people can play at higher than 900P resolution, above 60fps and with a mouse and keyboard. Rather than removing Mouse and Keyboard from PC, they could add Mouse and Keyboard for Xbone that way its more $$$ for M$! Everybody wins!

Hell no. I have nothing against people who prefer controllers for FPS, but I really prefer M&K. Some games are more natural on one and some on the other - but the biggest thing about PC is you (usually) get to choose to play how you want to play. MS would be wrong to take that away

So far Microsofts foray into the domain of pc gaming have been disastrous specifically due to them not understanding the platform - treating it indistinguishable from a console.

This the biggest problem I have right now with this win10/Xbox Eco system. I enjoy FPS games and I would love to play more people and have cross play. I know I'm no slouch at FPS games and not every single K/M player is gonna have an advantage over controller peeps, But K/M is better and more accurate for FPS I don't like to use it personally but I get it. I just don't want to be forced into a cross play situation that's not conducive to both sides and I feel letting PC people and console people joining a Crossplay type game mode where both parties willingly know and go at it is the best way. Even if they don't take away keyboard mouse

Hypothetically, if I ever get involved in competitive shooters again, then no, I would not be interested. I tried playing FPSs with my controller once. Didn't like it.

Probably best if MS just keep the KB&M and controller people apart, I think.

We want our games to take advantage of the PC platform. For them to release games on PC as half-ass console ports doesn't make much sense. They will not get a good foothold with PC gamers unless they embrace the strengths.

They just need to give controllers auto aim and they will destroy KB+M players.

Optional? Maybe.

Required? **** no. I like to play my FPSes on Mouse and keyboard and feel that good ol' 1:1 feel of aiming. There's a reason why most pro-players are playing on PC, and it's not about using a controller.

It's really the problem, they don't seem to see a difference. pc gaming to them envisioned nothing but casual free2play games which, when attempted resoundingly failed multiple times.

Console games with + graphics are still console games primarily aimed at Xbox gamers.

About the only indicative positive step they seem to have made are expansion packs for a decade old games; namely, the Age Of Empires series.

Are you serious now bro , which PC gamer will drop mouse/Keyboard combo for FPS , the ideal and most responsive way to play FPS by far , just to be able to play on Xbox ecosystem ? Dont give an F about ecosystems , MS or pads.

The only thing MS can do about it is to provide somehow different modes for people that dont want to play against K/M PC gamers . Thats the only way.

No... Otherwise whats the point of playing it on PC?... Shooter just feel better when they are at high framerates with low input lag and using a fast control scheme(KB/M) so I will never handicap my experience to have Microsoft tick of a feature on a list.

Single player? Maybbbeee....multiplayer, forget it, it'll be an exercise in frustration. It'll be like walking backwards for an entire day, it gets annoying and tiring fast.

Have you tried playing racing games with mouse/keyboard only? Its workable, definitely playable but it gets old really fast.

On paper, i'm not against it.

But in reality it's so easily exploitable, it's not even funny.

Jumping into this "controller only session" with a KB/M is literally a click away for any PC player without using any infringing software.

Just download any free gamepad emulation utility and abuse some poor controller players seconds after.

I'd say it's a good thing. No sense forcing PC's a disadvantage using ancient control methods. :P

No. If a game is better designed for a controller then I'll play it that way, but typically FPS games are stripped of all depth when using a controller. There is only so much that a controller can do, but in the realm of FPS games, mouse and keyboard just absolutely stomps controller in terms of possibilities. There are reasons that games like Call of Duty took off on consoles, and games like Counter Strike took off on PC that don't stem solely from marketing.

I'd rather Microsoft just make mouse and keyboard compatible with Xbox.

I mean sure, if it's just some weird side option that allows PC and console gamers to play each other with controllers then whatever. I'd just never touch it and I'm pretty sure the majority of PC gamers would stay away as well.

I just can't do FPS games with a controller anymore, I'd rather just not play them at all. It's not even about being competitive, it just feels like shit playing FPS games on a controller. You can argue preference all day, but when it comes down to it, it'd be like trying to play a platformer or a fighting game with Kinect hand gestures. Sure you can get used to it, doesn't make it a good means of input though.

Not a snowballs chance in hell. Have 3 queues. One for KB/M only, one for controllers only and the last for console gamers who have a masochist side.

This.

And if they'd do it, they should also allow a preset or mode for K&M only.

There is Windows Store and Xbox and it's going to stay that way. I don't get these dream scenerio's, they are 2 completely separate market segments for them that will share some cross platform features, sharing and games.

Op is clearly a clueless fool... What's stopping pc gamers from emulating gamepad with their mouse and keyboard if such restriction indeed take place? Heck I could play gamepad minded games with a hotas.
