Question for the PS3 owners getting a PS4 at launch?

WHY?? You already have a PS3, PS4 isn't launching with anything that great, mostly multiplats you can play on PS3 online for free....So why get the PS4 so you can play the same game and pay to play it online??? Ps4 is truly the just wait console of next gen.

I guess its just because this generation has been so long, people want something new. The question should be what does the PS4 offer besides a hardware bump....thats the question I cant answer and the reason im not purchasing one.

i agree, as a ps3 owner i see no reason to pick up a ps4 at all.

I never pick up new consoles at launch it's just a waste of money.

Yup, not to mention I have never bought a console at launch before. Just going to the midnight launch is going to be #magical.

You already have a 360, Xbox One isn't launching with anything that great, mostly multiplats you can play on 360 online for your same if not cheaper fee....So why get the Xbox One so you can play the same game and pay possibly more to play it online??? Xbox One is truly the just wait console of next gen.

I agree with it just really being a hardware bump, I won't get next gen till probably March, tax time of course :) so there should be some goods and bads out on both systems. Plus I'm waiting for my Live subscription to run out, not sure if it just transfers n picks up where it left off. I also be able to see what most of my friends will be getting and make a better decision. I just know if I had a PS3 i couldn't justify spending $400 to buy a system that I can play the same games online for free on the PS3. But I do understand the this generation has just gone on too long and I want something new feeling too!!!!

I'm really interested in Killzone: Shadow Fall and with inFAMOUS: Second Son releasing in February, I might as well get one now. Plus, my buddies are picking up BF4 on it so I'm forced to get that one rather than the PC version. >:[

@Telekill: Ha ok, I'll buy that but you still have KI, and Dead Rising coming out which look amazing, KI alone cause I can get the original Ki game with the new one. Regardless of the opinion of which system has the better launch line up there is still the fact of 360 owners have always paid to play online, therefore getting an X1 isn't gonna be a difference. Paying to play games you can play online for free on another system is important especially since PS3 owners have been touting that "ownage" for what 8 years. Graphic bump or not there isn't any logic. Killzone is a decent series and worth a play but it's no GeOW or Halo system seller.

For KZ:SF mostly and a handful of indie games. But the promise of its exclusives is alluring enough to warrant a purchase.

Generally it is a good principle to get a system after the games you want arrive, so you can make the most use of of the machine once you take it out of the box. But with how long the last generation lasted (7th gen), being so much longer than any gen before it, even multiplats have a greater appeal to play on more current hardware than the now outdated machines that can only offer a diminished experience of the same games.

No. Still so many PS3 games I need to buy and play before I get a PS4.

Killzone is going to be HYPE. Though I will say most anticipated is Dark Souls 2 which I will grab on PS3. But once it's on PC I will double dip and be full PC XB0NE PS4 MASTER RACE

My PS4 is paid off and ready to be picked up at the midnight launch. Why? I am excited about the PS4 something I can not really say about the PS3. Will I be wrong that the better hardware will have faster load times, less lag, and better intefaces? No. That is all.

I've got both the PS3 and Vita at launch so i want to do that with the PS4 too and get it at launch besides all my friends are getting a ps4 at launch so if i dont get one i'll be left out not to mention everyone are getting a CoD Ghosts on the PS4 so again getting the PS3 version would do me no good as i cant join any of my friends so PS4 day 1 is a must.

will keep my ps3 next to the upcoming PS4 of course as the PS3 has a lot of games coming for it next year.

As much as people here try to downplay it, Killzone has a big fanbase and it's a system seller.

Because I've been gaming on the PS3 since 2007. I just want a next gen console. Not to mention I'm already a PSN+ subscriber. It's not like I'm losing anything. I rather just buy the console now then wait a few years.

I want one, so I'm buying one. I'm sure you'll get over it.

@joel_c17: I'm not trying to get people to not get anything, nor am I justifying my purchase. I won't be getting a next gen system till March when I can make a just comparison and see what both have to offer. I know this gen has been a long gen, but getting something just for a graphic jump doesn't make sense. Especially when you can play those multiplats online for free on the PS3.

I know KZ has a big fan base but it is not a huge system seller, the community doesn't last like other online communities. Also has the release date been set for KZ on PS4???

Because of KZSF and BF4. I'm a huge Killzone fan and KZSF looks great. I also refuse to play BF4 with crappy graphics on PS3 (none of my friends play BF on PC) and I'm sick and tired of current gen consoles. I want a new shiny system now and whether I get it now or next year makes no difference because none of the next gen consoles will be having price drops anytime soon.

@xxyetixx: KZ's release date is the same as the PS4. In fact, the devs for Killzone just announced that they've gone gold today so the game is already ready for release.

Killzone is definitely not a system seller and the series sales have tanked.

I already have ps+, so i wont be paying for online. And i am really looking forward to killzone and playing bf4 with 64players with 60fps.

+ all those other ps+ games and just overall system features and upgrade.

I dont need a 'killer' app to buy a console, just the fact that its leaps and bounds better than the last generation from a technical and feature point of view.

Hell i bought the ps3 in 08 with gta4 and cod4, both multiplats.

Rushed Ryse? Choppy Dead Rising. LMAO!! Come back from the E3 already. Both of these games area already playing on XB1 tour and Ryse is playing great and looking 10x's better then what was at the E3. Dead Rising is locked at 30fps and smooth as butter. If you mostly play multiplats you don't even need a game console.

I'm getting the PS4 and XB1 because they have a couple games that I really want to play. There are more better games coming out before the end of the year.

Of course it is. It's the only game on the PS4 at launch that's worth getting. That's the main reason it has such a high pre-order count. Drive Club is delayed. Infamous doesn't come out until next year. Knack isn't a system seller. No one is killing themselves to try the new Indie IP's that will end up multiplat when they don't sell well on the PS4.

I just bought a PS3 last year to catch up on all the single player games which are now very cheap to buy so I will wait years before getting the PS4 as all the best Playstation games are always single player so you can experience them at any time and not feel like you missed out.

Why???? because it's the next console, you know the one's what were going to be playing on for the next 6-7 years, the fact remains all the major games coming out are on ps3/ps4 so i may aswel buy a ps4 now, and get them games and then i can save up for other games, i see no reason holding out, as then there will be to many games to buy for the system so i'll get the lump sum out the way first and then buy as i go along plus i can afford to, plus ps4 nor is xbox one going to get a price cut for awhile, at least not for another year or so, maybe xbox one.

Why wait what am i waiting for??? am i waiting for the games i want and then have to spend even bigger money when i have to buy this game that game, and that other game, for money reasons it makes sense to get it at launch and gradually build up a game library, i'm in no rush to get all the games at once. my plan this time around is to buy every single exclusive there is, i'm mature enough and old enough now to spend that kind of money when i want.

Every time a new console comes out with have this debate, and yet within a year or 2 all of the people moaning about getting the console will have the console and all the forums will get rid of the ps3/ps4 forum the 360/xboxone forum and it will just be the ps4 forum and the xbox one forum, like it always has been time after time.

and on a final note, all this ps3.5 or xbox 360.5 rubbish people keep throwing around, get with it, these are the consoles were playing for the next 7 years, no matter what this is the future of consoles, like it or not it ain't going to change.

Want play multiplats on better hardware and loadingtimes will be much shorter, harddrive is faster than disc-drive.

Simply because it will offer the better experience between the console's features and gameplay. My PS3 isn't going anywhere because of Gran Turismo 6, but I am excited to play what I believe will be a much smoother Battlefield game than what BF3 was on my PS3 and with more players Conquest should be more fun.

Your logic is bad and you should feel bad. Tell me why would you want to play multiplats in sub-HD resolution with no AA, in Dx9 (equivalent) when you play it in glorious 1080p resolution with higher AA, and Dx11 equivalent? Seems stupid to me. Graphics are one of the reasons why I never buy multiplats on console when my PC runs the same game at TWICE the resolution, 4-8 times MORE AA as well all the DirectX shadow, lighting and tessellation effects. PS4 will bring that (at least some) to the console table.

To answer your stupid-ass question:

I plan on getting Killzone 4: Shadowfall as it looks incredible and I have full faith in a AA-AAA developer.

Knack - I'll wait for a review on this one. It could be a 6/10 game, but who knows, it might be 8+/10.

COD: Ghosts - I've boycotted COD on PC since MW2. (COD4/WAW on PC master race) + I have 50-100 friends who play COD on PS3, and only 1 or 2 who play on PC. Now I get to play with friends AND good graphics.

Those alone will give me dozens, if not hundreds of game hours which in my current status equates to about half a years worth of gaming. By then titles such as the new Infamous, The Order 1886, Final Fantasy XV, Metal Gear Solid V, Destiny, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed IV and so on come out soon.

Meanwhile, how does the One launch look like?

Dead Rising - mediocre.

Forza - eww racing games

Halo 5 - post-bungie mediocrity.

Titanfall - will get on PC.

Ryse - 5/10 game at best.

I'm buying it for killzone shadowfal matter fact its the only ps4 game I'm buying this year.

better question is why not... its not like the PS4 is over priced or anything like that. There is still lots of life left in the PS3, but this gen has lasted far too long.

Why? Cuz I love KZ.

Now I'm not into Assassin's Creed, Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Need for Speed, but those are also on PS3, which leaves Killzone and Knack.
