Okay for some bizaree reason I had this deep desperate urge to get a PS3 on the 12th of June I literally have know idea why I have this urge but I am sure it will reveal itself in due course. So obvioulsy I got to get some games as well so my question is this.

How does Resitance FOM stand up to mordern day shooters? Is it still a high quality shooter or has it aged quickly? I ask for 360 owners becuase I own a 360 and have thus been spolied by high qulaity FPSs including Bioshock, Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 so would Resitance FOM fell underwhelming after these games

I think its a great game with a satisfying campaign and an entertaining multiplayer.

I suggest you rent the game and give it a try for yourself before you make a decision if you want to buy it or not.

It's doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything but it's still fairly good game. There are alot of better shooters though, but there are probably even more of them that are worse.

The game is great with a solid single player (or 2 player co-op if you wish). I'm not sure how its SP would measure up to Bioshock though since I haven't played it but I prefered it over CoD4's and Halo 3's. When it comes to MP I think you will find Halo 3 and CoD4 more "fun". Its multiplayer is good but I've prefered that of others. I might have been spoiled by Team Fortress 2 though since I was playing that before Resistance.

Single player I felt was incredible. Online felt too ridiculous in the sense that it reminded me of unreal tournament. I'd say rent R1 to get the backstory of it then buy R2.

As a owner of both consoles may I suggest Uncharted as your first purchase. I think it is by far the best game on PS3 right now. RFOM is nothing and does not hold a candle to COD4 or HALO 3 for single or multiplayer.

It's a solid game if you don't have another game you urgently want to play. It's worth playing just to get some back-story for when Resistance 2 comes out. That game definitely looks worth my time :D

The game should be fairly cheap now; go for it!

Otherwise, go for Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank!

I recently played Resistance and find it to be my co-favorite online game of all time with Halo 3. I love Resistance online and the campaign is very long, very difficult, and very rewarding. I love Resistance and wouldn't part with it for anything.

Dont get Resistance. Wait for part 2, trust me, if you've played Half Life 2, Call of Duty 4 etc., it'll just be boring and run of the mill.

Half Life 2 spoiled me when it first came out and Resistance was very blah to me because of it, COD4 was the only campaign that hooked me back into FPS singleplayer but too short.

Resistance was a great game and a lot of fun, but i'm not sure how it will stack up with more shooters out right now. I think that's the case with all shooters, i'm tired of all of them (having played them all into the ground). Looking forward to Resistance 2 though.

It has a great single player campaign but the multiplayer is an after thought

During the whole singleplayer campaign it just felt like ive done all of it before.

If you have another controller get a friend, player 1 plays as the protagonist while player 2 plays as a black soldier that will never be seen in a cinema, mentioned in the story or receive any credit  I completed the game in co-op and it was really fun, your team-mate can revive you during the stages if you get killed. EDIT: You might want to complete it through some rentals and wait for the sequel which seems to be turning into a much better game.

I think it would still be a solid fps experience. It's got a good single player campaign as well as co-op. Last time I checked RFOM online still had a lot of people as well. If it's still 59.99$ I recommend renting it first though.

never really liked the online because i dont have a headset. also because COD4 spoiled the hell out of me. I did play the single player and it was actually fun to play. Its longer than most shooters and i would say you should buy it but i liked FEAR more because the shotgun blast to the face is priceless. But dont get Ps3 version of FEAR nobody is on the multiplayer. maybe like 6 but thats all.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I can't speak for Halo 3 but Resistance is the better experiance IMO. Mind you that I never got into the online play with CoD4 but as far as the storymodes go, Resistance is a much better choice for a FPS on the PS3. It's a very solid shooter and by far the best on the PS3 for FPS.

Try the demo first. Personally, i found it boring. Its a mediocre shooter that only scored high for the same reasons PDZ scored high.

RFoM is very good and easily in my top 20 games of this gen. The story and lengthy campaign make it a steal at $20 or whatever launch games go for now. But, it can't hold a candle to the online MP of Halo3 and CoD4. The RFoM community has mainly moved on to different adventures.

Oddly enough,, its still full price or at best 49$ most stores.. Get Uncharted,, its a great game and an experience you cant get on the 360 (if not prove me wrong)

The campaign is fun. There's a large variety of weapons. It's no Call of Duty 4, but it's definitely AA worthy.

its a solid shooter, some of the weapons are really really interesting to use (people who play the game know which ones im talking about) and parts of the campaign will really have you feeling like its a you and a few people vs hoards of chimera, and in some cases that will be the case, its a game that any ps3 owner would be proud to own, its not perfect by any means, but for a launch title its damn good

Resistance was the best console FPS when it released. It is still great and lives up to some standards. The weapons are very inventive and fun to use. Enemies are menacing and intelligent. The campaign is lengthy as well. It's one of those games that get better later in the game (a bad thing).

I suggest you buy Uncharted, Warhawk, or Resistance.

Alright. I own both a PS3 and a 360. I had my 360 first. So i would have to say i am "Spoiled" by all the good FPS on the 360. When i got my PS3 my friend told me Resistance FOM was a great game. Lets just say wont take anymore game advice from that friend.

People say most FPS are generic these days. Resistance FOM tops them all. The game even feels weird to play. The online is pretty bad. I have a hrad time finding a normal game. All the games i join are these 1-shot kill games.

Anyways i would stick to the 360 and its great FPS.

I would recomend getting Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Uncharted. They are booth great games.

In the end, I would pass on picking up resistance FOM. Hopefully Resistance 2 will be way better.

There's a demo in the Playstation Store so that should help you make a decision without having to buy or rent it. Personally, I think it's a great game and I still enjoy the online from time to time.

Resistance is a good game. The SP is alot of fun especially in offline coop. Sadly there isn't any online coop. There will be 8 player coop however in Resistance 2. Multiplayer does feel like UT like someone mentioned. There really is no teamwork in Team Deathmatch and alot of people dont chat on PSN. Its mostly just run around and shoot someone in multipalyer without working as a team.

I have a 360, but i played part of the game at a friends house.

Its a good game, but beware that it starts off kinda slow, so dont give up on the game until you've passed a couple of levels. I kinda missed force feedback, but its a solid game. I think it deserves its score 8.5 (i think)

Its good,

But its not like it really re-invents or innovates to genre. If you own a PS3 its worth getting but its not worth getting a PS3 for. Since Warhawk came out it has not left its case.

Campaign is good, but not amazing and the multiplayer has much improved as the matchmaking is much quicker but nothing mindblowing.

Underwhelming? While, that is really a personal question, I found the game to be very fun. The amount of weapons and the ability to have co-op was awesome. COD4 looks better and so does Halo 3, but I found RFOM to be very enticing. The variety in weapons and the aggressive AI made it really fun. I really enjoyed it.

The sp is pretty good but the online is really fun.

If you do get it I suggest playing online on the cathedral map. 20 Vs 20 players is great. you have 10 people on the roof of a cathedral and 10 on the other team in a building facing it. Its hectic with mortar hots going everywhere! then you have another team of 10 on each team flanking you its awsome!

I own both sytems, and Resistance was a good game. If you can pick it up for $40 or so I'd say give it a go, if it is still full price you might be getting ripped off a little. Good game, but all the tiltes you mentioned are definitely better and probably have spoiled you. I'd suggest just picking up MGS4, and maybe Warhawk. If you have a 360 you'll find that there are not that many games that will excite you on the PS3...yet. Pick up some Blu-rays for now or if you can find some of the exclusives (Resistance, Ratchet Future, Uncharted) for something other than full price I'd say go for it.
