I'm sure people can scrounge up another $60 by the end of the year to buy a new game. While there's no doubt that Halo 3 will have some effect of the sales of other games (mostly other FPS), I don't think it will be as bad as people think.

I doubt it. People are always going to want new games to play. COD 4 is gonna sell lots of copies.
Sure there's money left. I'm still upset that World In Conflict was delayed till 08 and there's still a slew of games I plan to buy like Assassin's Creed, Rock Band, GHIII, COD4, NCAA Hoops 2k8, NBA 2k8, and Orange Box.
It won't matter much 360 owners have proved time and again that they have enough disposable income to buy many titles.
Look at the crazy games to consoles sold ratio.
Personally I'm getting HL2 and COD4 along with Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6, Assassins Creed and a few others. What's ironic is that the PS3 having a slow xmas is helping me out in affording 360 titles. I'm really only looking forward to R&C and when it comes to mp's I will get the 360 versions.

do you think cod 4 will reach 2.6 in its life time. GOw is at 2.9 that took 47 weeks.. man, i think at best cod 4 will do maybe 200k its first week.
They say it's because of development issues but I wouldn't be surprised if UT2007 got delayed to 2008 so they wouldn't have to go head to head with Halo 3. It was always going to take sales from any FPS released around the same time on 360.

We have to wait and see how the other 360 games sell now that Halo 3 is out, such as Mass Effect, CoD4 etc... I don't really think its a question about money as much as it is casuals being happy just playing Halo and a couple other games.
to be honest im worried about cod 4. does anyone feel the same way. i dont want to buy a game that no ones going to be playing. do you think they should do a ad blitz??
Call of Duty 4 is going to do extremely well in sales.

You know, a game only has to sell a million to do "extremely well". I think that's about the number.
A game could do 500K in sales and that would be extremely well depending on the production/marketing costs. I have no doubt CoD4 sells 2to 3 million copies by the time it is all said and done. It is multiplat, plus the CoD series always sells good.
I'll be getting MassEffect, COD4, and Orange Box later this year. Those games should hold me over till 2008. I'm looking forward to UT3 in the spring, then GTA4.
