As for that there is something wrong at epic if success marks future extended development on epic games...this is something that was common sense and they should have known years ago. there were and are more then enough examples and reasons to have a longer then 1-2 year development and no beta whatsoever.

If Gears 3 is successful, Epic will likely look to increasing dev time to accomodate proper time for things like debugging/testing as well as more time for the programming aspect. Didn't Gears 2 have something like a years development time?

Yeah, but they revamped the whole game. Literally, when they modified the concept they had about a year left. Just look at the earlier trailers. Hell, they were planning on having massive battles, vehicles etc. Much like Halo or Unreal. Gears wasn't even Gears. Gears of war 3 is a steady development. Hell, Gears 1 could have went the route of Duke. Look at Unreal, got G.O.T.Y and most of its great features where added during the extended.
Good. Gears 2 was garbage. Developing a good FPS/TPS nowadays in 2 years is pretty much impossible if you want a polished game with balanced multiplayer.

Nah, I doubt it. I'd hate to have really long development times, and having more than the usual 2-3 years to make a game is just ridiculous. I'm glad to see that you're lookg forward to gears 3 though, bretter2200 :)
