Am I the only one here who looks at a game and says, "It looks fun, but I'll wait until it's 20 or 30 dollars," or something along those lines. And then as the months past and the price decreases, I lose complete interest in it. Like, the hype and excitement on System Wars gets me excited for things, and when there's no talk, I usually never go back to buying the games before. It would be really smart if I waited a whole year for a game to be out before buying it to save money, but I can never wait that long. When there is a game that I am interested in, but it's too high in price, I just forget about it over the months. For example, I was going to pick up Trauma Center: New Blood when the price dropped, but I never did. I just forgot about it and moved on to other games.

Is anyone else like this? This is what I feel I'll do to Skate 2.

By the way, I'm getting Burnout Paradise for my little brother's birthday... Just felt like throwing that out.

I really don't think that game's price is going to drop for a very long time. Like, over two years probably. Call of Duty 4 was 60 dollars for the longest time. It only recently dropped to 50 dollars. I think it's still the initial price for PC (50 dollars). Mario Strikers: Charged came out on July 31, 2007 (I got it the very next day.), and it's still 50 dollars, I believe. Big name games like that don't usually drop in price... But you could just wait for a deal. Like Buy 2 Get 1 Free at Toys R Us or something.

Reason for edit: I meant July 31, 2007, but I accidently put July 31, 2008 instead. ;)

I don't lose interest, per say, but the hype does die down and I no longer count the hours until I'm at the game store picking it up. I was originally going to do that with Killzone 2, but I finished a job a little earlier than expected and happened to stumble across a little financial flexibility, so I'm going to head over soon and pre-order it. I know what you mean, though and it happens with a lot of games and me. Sometimes it takes me forever to beat it just because I have no more interest in the game, and this happens with fairly new games, too.

I usually go with Gamefly before buying a game unless I have been wanting it for a long time and I know for sure I'll love it. System Wars hype has never ever influenced me to purchase a game and never will.

I did this with assasin's creed, cod world at war (picked it up at best buy for $20 buck$$), so you're not alone. There are to many good consoles and games to be able to buy them all.

I say that to myself all the time and lose interest just like you. I said this to skate and mirror's edge. Then I played the mirro's edge demo and heard that it was all time trials and lost interest. Then I found out that skate 2 was coming out and so I decided to wait and I could settle for the demo.

But I recently rented LBP, now that is a game i WILL buy when the price gets lower.

I only do that for substantially older games. I didn't enter the current gen of consoles until summer of 08 so there is a whole bunch of early titles I'm lacking from my library. Theres alot i'm interested in, but I can't bring myself to pay $60 bucks for a game thats 2 years old. For example Uncharted... I still can't believe how thats not a greatest hits yet.

Any new games tho... If I want it, I get it right away.

That's what I was saying about Wrath of the Lich king, but I don't think I'll ever get it, another expansion was a bad idea and they're probably gonna announce another one soon.

I wanted to do that with Bioshock. It is now $40 but I still think it's a bit too high but I don't even know if I want to buy it anymore. I was thinking of waiting until Dead Space drops in price to because I didn't want to pay $60 for a short single player game but by the time it drops I probably won't care for it anymore.

Bioshock was $5 on Steam during the boxing week sale. Anything more is too much.

I usually purchase games on there first release date. Usually what happens (to me of course) if I don't purchase a game the few weeks it comes and play it I'll eventually lose interest because of all the other great games that are constantly coming out.

COD4 and FO3 have been available on Amazon for far below MSRP many times. And I just did this with The Last Remnantat the end of last year. Had it pre-ordered at $39.99, but cancelled it for something else. A few days later it was up on Amazon for $29.99, so I ordered it. :P

Its weird because if I'm willing to wait for it to drop that far in price it must mean I'm not really that interested in it to begin with. Almost every single game I wait for the drop gets treated just like a rental anyways I'm starting to notice.

I'm like that sometimes. I waited 2 years for Mass Effect...It's only recently when I went to go get Left 4 Dead did I buy Mass Effect for 15 bucks. I usually go back and buy games that I couldn't afford at the time in the future, but I always buy the new ones first :P.

I'm sixteen years old, and I don't have a job. Seriously, I live off my birthday money, and the left-over money I get from my parents when buying lunch at school. I used to get bagged lunch, but then I realized I could take advantage of my parents and get free money without them knowing! So I just get something cheap, and take the extra money. Better than spending it on over-priced food. I'm sure they really don't care. They are paying 8000 dollars a year for my school, anyway. They can spare a few extra bucks for me.

I'm 21, I earn a fairly respectable sum of money yearly, live in my own place, and would be considered "middle class". Maybe a little above. Maybe. So yeah. Its different for me.

I think you have to look at what type of game it is... if your buying it just for the Story I normally wait a while, but If your buying it for the Multiplayer I tend to buy it was soon as I have the money ready... To truly injoy online games you have to play them in there prime... when the battles are still intense...

You should of bought it during New Years sale. The game was being sold for really cheap price

Go check if Circuit City in your area has it in sale since they are doing a liquidation sale.

Yup, games that continue sell well never drop in price. Heck, Call of duty 4 PC was in the top 10 selling pc games last year, so its no surprise its still 50

Part of the reason I love the Wii... The good games generally fall in price quickly...

I find myself doing this more and more, fewer games are worth full price to me anymore. Mainly because they cost more (other then Wii games) and are more generic then ever.

As a six-months-behind-the-curve PC gamer, I tend to like to get games after a fair number of patches have been released. As a result, the price usually drops by the time I get it.
