Aku101 - It's pretty common sense to put internet multiplayer on consoles :|
--------
Yea because PS2 had online before Xbox -RocBoys9489-
The PS2 did.
... and The Dreamcast had it before the PS2, seganet anyone?
Also, I would like to point out LIVE is disabled for Xbox now, that's the problem with a closed off network, as the PS2 still has online titles still. So the PS2 started before the Xbox, and ended after. That's how history will record it.
Let me check and see, I read a VERY old IGN article from like 2002 and it was talking about Sony being late to launch their online service after LIVE came out.Well, you can check you'd like, but I actually lived through those days playing those games, Check 3rd Party game Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (Online on PS2, not on Xbox), SOCOM : U.S. Navy Seals...and remember too, EA games (Madden, NBA Live, NHL, Tiger Woods, Nascar, Fight Night, etc.) were all online only on the PS2 back then, not on Xbox. SPORTS games are a HUGE part of the market, around 50%...that's HUGE. Then EA's non Sports games like James Bond, Medal of Honor, etc...those were again only online on PS2.
Of course, Sega themselves offered NBA 2K, NFL 2K, NHL 2K, on BOTH consoles (Xbox and PS2), as did activsion with their Call of Duty games, but you get the idea.
I'm not saying Xbox didn't push Online, it obviously did, but you are wrong about when the PS2 went online, and how hard Sony pushed online as well. 1st party games like SOCOM, Champions of Norrath, Ratchet & Clank 3, Jak X and more were also online. Then random PC games like TRIBES could also be found online on PS2 as well, a Jetpack First Person Shooter.
Halo 2 was great online, but it came out Holiday 2004, a mere one year later the 360 came out!
It wouldn't be the first time that a major site like Gamespot, or in this case IGN reported inaccurately, if IGN did indeed actualy post that. The writer was simply wrong.
