what was capcom thinking when they added the line SLAM DUNK. did they think this was awesome and ppl would dig it. i been a gamer for a long time but this is probably the cheeseast line i have ever heard
I stopped playing DMC games when I started up DMC3 because of the cheese fest. Its crap and takes away from the game, almost as bad as the friendly NPCs talk in the Halo series. DMC1 was nothing like that. The dialogue should embrace the feel of the rest of the game, down to the story, environments, and characters. You don't see the Belmonts in any of the Castlevania games making corny jokes when fighting against Dracula.

i assume if nero said SLAM DUNK in japanese, it would really should cool. japanese words especially if a character is angry sounds sooooo cool. SLAMMMADUNKAAA

Besides that, they speak English in the Japanese version, so there is no need for a Japanese voice actor. There is especially no need for a Japanese voice actor to speak English.

I dont know about anybody else, but I have a habit of laughing at cheesy/corny stuff. However, I dont laugh at it because its funny, I laugh at it because its corny, kinda hard to explain, but if I hear a corny line or a corny joke or something i dont laugh because i thought the joke was funny (because they're not) i laugh because of how bad it is. Its like Snakes on a Plane, its enjoyable because its incredibly corny. Thats how I see it atleast.
Devil May Cry is all about ultra-cheesiness. It does it on purpose, and it does it well. DMC's goofy ass humor has always been a part of its charm, and it's what seperates it from more serious games like Ninja Gaiden and God of War.
It's way cooler when they actually say things while fighting imo
Uh, no. Kratos is far more tolerable to listen to, 'cause a superior actor does his voice work and works with a far superior script. I'll take a simple grunt over a corny ass line that's certain to bleed ears any day, plus his Poseidon's Rage quotes in GOW2 are badass.
And "Slam Dunk" easily ranks up there as one of the cheesiest combat quotes ever. I don't recall hearing anything in DMC3 that sounded that lame.
