Good news for Nintendo fans who will have little money after buying a Wii U. The new system will not implement any features that will prevent the playing of used games.

...

From Moffitt:

It is a reality in the marketplace. We haven?t incorporated any features that will discourage used-game sales at this point. We?re not trying to circumvent that.JEFF NEUENSCHWANDER

Yay, at least one next gen system won't have any used game restrictions! :)

I can't believe this is going to be a issue going into the next gen, if companies don't want us buying used games, either make your games cheaper or add more content.

I hate how the gaming industry thinks it should be a exception to the buying and selling of used products.

I agree, have some creativity and give the customers a reason to buy your product when it comes out! :)

Well that link mentioned used systems that were outdated, N64, NES, etc. Not necesarily newer products.

Haha. Well Miyamato himself cares a lot for games but I'm not quite sure if the company as a whole cared for gamers as such.

Yeah, I'm sure Miyamoto does, but Nintendo? Most likely not. I do think they are being ethical about the whole used games thing tho.

Goodbye Gamestop if thats the case. Isn't their main profits from USED GAMES? Same with many retailers... I foresee a big unemployment problem soon.

It doesn't matter how much more powerful the other consoles are over the Wii U or if third parties are currently skeptical of the platform. If the Wii U ends up being the only platform consumers can buy used games for and if Sony/MS keep new prices the same as they are without used games Nintendo will by default have a home run on their hands. I don't see Sony or MS blocking them, but if they do oh boy it will kill all their momentum. I don't know why but I can see Sony pulling off a bonehead move like that.

they know it's a lost cause. the moment they attack a company for not blocking used games, they've lost. it's one thing to defend the policy, it's another to attack the lack of it.

True, but their are some chuckleheads on this board that are on some kind of "moral crusade" against used game sales.

So does this indirectly mean that Nintendo just pissed off a few third-parties? I mean, I'm sure a few third party developers would lose money from the used games thing. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Wii U to allow used games, but this might bite them in the ass later on.

Better some 3rd Party companies than the consumer, afterall it is us who pay them at the end of the day. And most people want used games, especialy if a certain game is no longer availiable new and they want a physical copy.

Eventually we will have DD on consoles for retail games at rock bottom prices like there is on steam. Until then used games are the only option to not get ripped off on games you are unsure of.

I disagree. I think nintendo does care about games, and the people that enjoy them. Nintendo looks at games as a form of trade, they wouldn't exist withoutthemarket. They're also one of the few respectable developers/publishers left.

You know it's a sad day in gaming that people are celebrating about a console allowing used games rather than being bitter as they once were that a console doesn't allow used games :(

Gamestop is probably going to get hit really hard if PS4 and 720 have a no used Games Policy. Then again they would just support Nintendo a bit more in that aspect. Although now and days that I go into Gamestop they're looking for people to Preorder games rather than forcing people to buy used.

There are rumors about them blocking used games, though Jack Tretton of Sony wouldn't agree to that.

Nope, just speculation from previous endeavors such as Sony's "Online Pass" and the Vita's trophy limitation (which we can all get around now).

Wasn't the Vita game's trophy limitations such a case of misunderstanding? In that new users had to reset the games to prevent instant trophies without playing the game.
