Your grammar and spelling disprove your getting older. So it can't be that. :Ptehsystemwarior
haha.. i just wanted to bump this thread because i think games r just gettin crappier..... for example, me and my buddies have been playing super smash bros on n64 for the past month or so and always have a blast playing it... well just about 30 mins ago i rented super smash bros brawl and wow it sucks so bad compared to the n64... so yeah i still enjoy playing old snes game and n64 games, but the new remakes just suck imo

yeah i mean, most of the new characters suck, theirs too much **** going on with all the new detail and attacks they added... n64 version was awesome because the controls were perfect and it was simple...... i stick by my arguement that games r gettin crappier. for example, nhl 11 is way to detailed now, sure the graphics r nice but the faceoffs r stupid... they should just keep games simple, press the a button to win a face off, not rotate the stick left then down and ugh... good controls = a good game... look at wwf no mercy... awesome wrestling game, u have total control over ur character... now the new smackdown games r all motion captured animations with crappy controls.... i rest my case

what does this have to do with nintendo. actually... you seem to be exactly the kind of person nintendo is targeting: those people that are giving up/already gave up gaming because it got too complicated.

You think they only have one "saving grace"?

From Nintendo we got: Metroid Prime 3, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid: Other M, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy 1, Super Smash Bros Brawl, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Kirby Epic Yarn, an upcoming Donkey Kong Country sequel, a new Zelda coming up and Wii Sports Resort to name a few. I'd say that's pretty good considering that's from one developer/publisher.

I simply used Mario Galaxy 2 (their best Wii game, in my opinion) to prove that Nintendo games haven't gone downhill. Nintendo has both quality and quantity and panders to a large audience.

nintendo pretty much lost me on the gamecube... i was around 20 when i bought mine... they seemed to be making games that were increasing childesh with super mario sunshine and windwaker... as i was growing older... the appeal was slipping.

I pretty much just play party games on my wii.

told ya someone would save me the effort of making a list :P there are plenty more of first party games for the wii (we're not even counting the DS games) to prove that nintendo isn't getting worse and that the galaxy games are far from being "the only saving grace the wii has at tthis (sic) point."

i grew up playing gameboy, nes, snes, n64... after that era was when sony and microsoft got into gaming and nintendo starting taking a whole new route in gaming imo.

the gamecube and the wii don't seem to feel like future classics. like, i played the new super mario bros and mario galaxy and it doesn't really feel like a mario game to me... im not sure if it's because im 22 years old now and games don't thrill me as much anymore or if the games just suck now a days... i haven't played the new donkey kong country but i know that their is no way in hell it'll be better than donkey kong country 2 for the snes.

anyone else feel the same? is nintendo almost done making consoles? the 3ds will be great, i think they should just focus on it and remake all the classic games like yoshi's island!

It's human NATURE.........SEX SELLS......and nintendo cant perform it (they are actually getting old)

Why? It is a age thing, yes you can still enjoy nintendo games as you get older, but the appeal starts to die because nintendos main focus is kids. That is a fact. I wouls like to see a 19 yr+ person that can actually afford or has all of the consoles and say as a whole I prefer nintendos games, I have had more fun on my wii, then my ps3/360/pc all gen. If there was one I wouldnt believe him anyways.

i'm 20 and prefer nintendo consoles. there's nothing wrong with that.

30, almost 31, and I prefer DS. Wii is great too; been playing it more lately than my other systems. Seems to be underappreciated.

The wii got Epic yarn this month, so you prefer that over all the other games released this month on the other consoles?

I didnt say there was anything wrong with it, I have bought 3 wii's this gen myself. I dont have one now but I enjoyed the galaxy games, and had high hopes for metroid and zelda, after I played Metroid I decided to sell it and skip out on the new zelda, I dont like where nintendo has taken there games. It is a fact that nintendo caters towards the younger crowd, and ps3/360/pc are more towards the older crowd, so it is natural as you get older to prefer the other systems over nintendo. IF you dont, thats your business but everyone I know in real life, prefers the other systems and uses the wii for party games or just dont own one at all.

'Tis just you. It's natural for perspectives to change, same with expectations. It's not your age or Nintendo's fault, however, it's that with passing time, no matter if that time is one year or twenty, things can change.

You say "Tis just you" But you entire post pretty much say,s yes you can out grow nintendo, but in different wording. Your expectations change because you getting older and more mature and it is nintendos fault because they are not worried about the older gamer, the cash cow is with kids. I dont blame them but it is there fault that there games are geared towards kids. They throw a bone towards the older gamer every now and then but its not enough for me.

I thought I was pretty clear in my post. When people talk about age factions in gaming, there are always two major groups: child and adult. I'm arguing that it's not the transition from child to adult that makes you lose interest for a certain system. Hypothetically, let's say a 70-year old man loves the Wii. He might, when he's 80, have lost interest in it. This could work in the opposite direction too. The change of a person's evaluation of something is JUST that person. What the TC is arguing is that when most people go into adulthood, they lose interest for Nintendo in general. Hogwash, I say. Many of Nintendo's games may be geared towards kids, but that doesn't mean in any way that only kids will appreciate them. Do you think Tom McShea was just lying about his appreciation of Super Mario Galaxy 2? Because clearly, he really likes Nintendo for that game alone.

They aren't getting worse it is just Nostalgia that is making you think that.

It is the same as how somebody says games are easier now when some games are the same difficulty that have always been (Zelda and Mario) it is sort've the same difficulty it is just back then it was sort've harder because of limitations with the systems and control input. But those getting fixed it seems easier then you also have to think when you played those games back then you were younger and worse at videogames then you are now.

Also your tastes in games is changing.

Perhaps you're looking for a false sense of maturity, perhaps not. But it has nothing to do with getting "old"

Nintendo games don't feel stale at all. That's probably because I vary the games I play. I play many games on the PC. When it looks like I'm getting my fill from that platform, I switch to the Wii (and sometimes the NGC) for something totally different. It's worked for me all the way back from the NES days.

WRONG! their focus has always been... EVERYONE 8)

LegatoSkyheart

Although there's some truth in your statement, Jaysonguy is telling more of the truth than you are. Nintendo sold the The Nintendo Entertainment System as a Toy first, therefore marketing it to children.

Although today, Nintendo's Focus is to make a Game that ANYONE can play. That's why in most of their commercails you may see a Teenager play with someone past their prime with a game like Wii Sports or Wii Music.

Anyone can play those games.

You are wrong. They first advertised it as an electronic device but it got zero attention. Then and only then did they market it as a "toy". Nintendo games really are for everyone.

Thanks for putting more matter of factly, I agree with you points, they are all true. None of those change the fact that as you get older nintendo games have less appeal because they are made for younger gamers. Advid-Gamer

I'd have to disagree with you. Nintendo games are family games, designed to appeal to everyone in the family. Since '88 my whole family(parents, aunts, uncles, cousins) have been Nintendo fans, and we all enjoy playing Nintendo games together. Back in the day it was SMB, Duck Hunt, and TracknField. Now it's Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and SMG/NSMB.

Nintendo is about family appeal.

[QUOTE="Advid-Gamer"] What ever, I disagree. You have long winded answers, that seem to talk in circles, when really it is not that complicated. Advid-Gamer

:? Longwinded answers that talk in circles? Fine, a bullet-point list:

-Time passing changes perspectives in general, not just towards Nintendo

-Nintendo games may appeal to the younger generation, but that doesn't mean only the younger generation can appreciate and love them

-You realize that the critics that give some Nintendo games high scores are all adults, yes?

Thanks for putting more matter of factly, I agree with you points, they are all true. None of those change the fact that as you get older nintendo games have less appeal because they are made for younger gamers.

That's not fact, that's opinion.

i grew up playing gameboy, nes, snes, n64... after that era was when sony and microsoft got into gaming and nintendo starting taking a whole new route in gaming imo.

the gamecube and the wii don't seem to feel like future classics. like, i played the new super mario bros and mario galaxy and it doesn't really feel like a mario game to me... im not sure if it's because im 22 years old now and games don't thrill me as much anymore or if the games just suck now a days... i haven't played the new donkey kong country but i know that their is no way in hell it'll be better than donkey kong country 2 for the snes.

anyone else feel the same? is nintendo almost done making consoles? the 3ds will be great, i think they should just focus on it and remake all the classic games like yoshi's island!

babybinky
its not precisely that the games are getting worse...its just that we begin to realize (and actually care about) that the games are always the same recycled crap as the last version

That was a different system that was the Nintendo Advanced Video System (AVS) but it failed at the Spring CES 1985 but the summer CES in 1985 Nintendo unveiled the NES.

Here is a picture of the AVS.

Nintendo Advanced Video System

You could find more information in this article because yesterday was the 25th Anniversary of the NES.

This could go back and forth all day, this is SW and I am arguing with nintendo fans. So I will just say, I have been gaming since the nes, so have my friends. in my real life experiance, people I know have out grown nintendo. There is no way to say who is right here, everyone is different but as a whole nintendo appeals to younger gamers, a few of you older gamers here prefer nintendo fine, but I think you are a minority.

Completely and thoroughly false

Nintendo saw the crash in the game industry and knew that it needed more then that to survive, they also knew that if they failed at launch they were done for and all this work would go down the drain.

That's why they made sure they'd into toy stores with R.O.B. and why they made the clear distinction that this was a console aimed at children (unlike the Intellivision that said adults needed to be present when it was used)

What you're saying never happened.

people change with age.

of course if you grow older and no longer like something that you used to like...your natural reaction isnt to say "wow i lost my ability to enjoy these games" "wow i wish i was like those other gamers that enjoy them"

of course not.. its natural for one to instead say "wow i changed. i am not a kid anymore my views are more mature now and i see these crap for what it really is."
