Bioshock, SMG or Crysis is more better to take this position!

Based on the way GameSpot reviewed Crysis, I'd have a hard time seeing anything else getting GOTY if it was in the FPS genre.

I mean, they concluded saying it was that "Crysis raises the expectations for every shooter to follow when it comes to graphics, interactivity, environments, immersiveness, AI, and gameplay" and that "Crysis represents the first-person shooter at its finest, most evolved form".

I mean, how could that be said, then another FPS be awarded GOTY?

Now I have only played a bit of cod 4's campaign but I already think it deserves GOTY more than halo 3. I would not be suprised if it got it. The atmosphere of the game is amazing and the battles are immense! Plus the multiplayer is good. I was doing splitscreen 1 on 1 and its very well made. It all works, the maps always give indoor and outdoor action, without being too spacious. The wepons are great and all different, plus Its grapics mean you can use camoflage to its full advantage! which you cannot truly do on most games, I dont mean hide behind a wall, but use surfaces to lie down to stay hidded, or use grasses and things like that.

Best game I have played in ages. It should do well in the awards.

COD4... it's just too short. If story means so much, giving this GOTY totally would make me laugh at the review site. Pushing gaming by using maps?

SMG... yeah, this should win. Good length single campaign, awesome score, controls and art design, perfect difficulty, this is what a game should be on all levels.

COD4 storyline is just too short, i mean how can a 6hr long game become GOTY?

COD4 no doubt is a great great game, enough to be ranked top ten but GOTY seems to be overkilled.

I do understand why people vote it as GOTY though, it's released recently, which gives people more impressions than older titles. And also it's on all platform, people who doesn't have a xbox360 won't vote halo 3.

Yet so many consider it. I haven't checked at IGN (I'm sick and lazy right now), but if by some chance it is nominated, I'd be confused as to how it could ever top Ocarina of Time, which they gave 10.

I've never touched Crysis, so I can't really say, although I find shooters games to be extremely repetitive. I nearly pissed my pants when I put in Halo 3, I'd never played a Halo game before. I didn't expect it to be Gears or anything, but I expected it to bring me into it quite a bit. I played an hour and the tone of the game with the mediocre graphics just screamed meh to me. I'll finish it eventually, but it's definitely not anything I would give over an 8 thus far. I played a few rounds online and I just... I dunno. It's not my thing and I don't know why it's so popular. I'm pretty convinced the big twist in Halo 3 will be Master Chief being a frog. That's all I can think about when I play the game.

idiots saying that it does deserve goty are just giving companies more incentive to make lacklustre single player campaigns with all flash and no real substance. no it does not deserve goty, for the length amongst other reasons.

stalker was a much more memorable experience and i still wouldnt consider that worthy of a goty award.

I have only played COD2 which was a decent game. As far as COD4, I find hard to justify spending 60 bucks on 5 hour SP campaign since I am not a multilayer junkie. Also, while COD4 technically looks great, I find that t looks boring/generic due to fact that it is a military shooter(a genre that I am not a fan of). I am also not a fan of shooters with a lot of scripted events because in my opinion, they offer a little replay value.

I have only played, Orange Box, Halo 3, Bioshock, and I am currently playing through Mass Effect. Out of these four, I would pick either Bioshock or Mass Effect as GOFY.

I hope that COD4 does not win because market is already flooded with multilayer oriented military shooters and last thing we need is to encourage the developers to produce even more of them.
