RAGE 2 to be best open world game ever?

Hello friends,

So this generation is invaded with open world games and most of em are boring especially ubisoft ones either far cry or assassins creed. in history theres some good and many boring open world games. the best open world game imo was Stalker but many can debate it may not real open world game or some sort of semi open world sandbox.

but heres RAGE 2 is coming out. its by number 1 FPS developer today and its open world is being done by one who made most fun third person sandbox game ie Just cause 2. its a post appocalyptic game feature shooting and vehicular combat.

the gameplay footage we have seen looking excellent from vehicular combat to shooting. the world is also looking great. especially if you compare it to this gens open world games like assassins creed, far cry, MGS5 or witcher 3 or even GTA5. this game stand to have excellent gameplay and excellent vehicle segment. infact vehicle segments are boring in most open world games but here if you are in car combat most of time. it wont be boring.

so my friends, i analyse that RAGE 2 is the game that has potential to become greatest open world game of all time.

I give credit to RDR. its actually first done right open world western game. theres very few of.

RDR2 im waiting for PC version. but GTA is definition of generic, boring and uninspired.

im not hating cyberpunk. they have to make good gameplay in order to win over me. CDPR never had experience with shooting. while id software are master of it.

The probably of Rage 2 being the best open world game ever is about the same of TC ever creating a decent thread.

I'd rather the game be a linear shooter so they can focus on crafting exciting set piece level design. Open world games just turn into shallow padded grinds. I mean, I don't want to be the person that says an open world masterpiece isn't possible, I sure hope it is, but I'm not holding my breath that Rage 2 will deliver on that. Unless a game is going to really work hard to give you a reason for it to be open world, I'd rather it just be a linear experience.

I'm in the middle of Nier Automata and though overall I am enjoying it I feel the game is a lot of wasted potential. Probably could have benefited from being a linear hack-n-slash game with more focus on combat in fashion of a DMC or Bayonetta game, with post game level select and abilities to unlock new weapons and skills and take them along through the level select for replaying levels in new difficulties and going for better leaderboard rankings. As it stands now, combat is very basic, and the open world isn't that big, the side quests are shallow in design and forgettable. The best moments of the game are all the main story quests. I might be speaking too soon, only just finished the 2B side of the game and am on the 9S part, so maybe there's lots more stuff to come and I'm speaking too soon. But yeah, so far, enjoying it, but wishing it could be more.

My first impression from the trailer and gameplay vids is that it's a bit ridiculous looking, over the top cheesy, and a bit for the ADHD crowd, but I'm not going to dismiss it entirely yet.

@lamprey263: I miss linear games with semi open areas or side quests so much... I hate that every game has to have a big map... The age of good old linear RPGs or games is over, sadly.

and they totally fucked that legacy with Saber/QC.

RAGE 2 is drastically different than first game.

Rage looks too similar to Mad Max if you ask me. I like Mad Max, but I'm not so sure on Rage just yet, I need to see more gameplay before I buy.

A game that is release early next year and has gameplay footage? or a game that is vaporware since 2012 and shown a trailer to public that show nothing and has no release date?

Actually looking at the trailer it could quite possibly be one of the worst. It looks quite ridiculous.

but i never liked fallout or elder scrolls. but i can say bethesda has been making games since 30 years when CDPR were not even exist. thus its more experienced company.

Shenmue 3 will beat that game.

But I'm pretty sure that GTA V has better open world than this game.

Yea, like buying out id software for exclusive rights to its engines, and then not even using them for one of their most iconic franchises and instead outsourcing to some Russian hacks.

The likelihood of it even being one of the better games in the genre, which isn't a very high bar, is slim to none.

Gameplay looks like an improvement, but it's too early to call. Many of these open world-games, namely, Far Cry tend to be start of extremely fun, but I find myself bored with a loss of motivation long before the end. Could see this happening here.

Tonally, the trailers have veered into that Borderlands level of obnoxious territory where it screams "i'm hot shit" at you, like a child smoking a cigarette to show how cool he is in front of his peers, occasionally chocking as he desperately tries to keep his composure.

The game didn't need this, I don't think anyone was asking for it. If anything, they've made it appear even more generic.

Not so sure about that, there are tons of games that are open world coming out soon that blow rage out of the water. For reference, most of the games on this list are open world.

Dear god, stop making the same pointless, shallow "threads". Problem is: you never say much on anything. 5 year old way of thinking based on pure like/dislike. And stop posting the same thing on other gaming forums.
