I just dont think this looks interesting. The graphic tech is very good but it just looks kinda like Borderlands/Fallout 3 clone. Hopefully more footage will be shown at E3 which may show of something unique to this game.
I've been predicting this will be my shooter of the year and this vid just reassures me I'm probably right - Awesome. :D

God I wish people would stop comparing it to those games, Fallout's not even a proper shooter, and Borderlands is a cel-shaded attempt at an rpfps. And it's a hell of a lot prettier than either.
Also, 'clone'? It's been in developement since before those games started their developement. >.>

Inconsistancy
Im on about the Post Apocalyptic setting, the infected mutated beings, the waste lands etc... Im fully aware Borderlands is cell shaded and Fallout 3 has some RPG elements to it. But what sets Rage apart from them? I havent personally seen one trailer that really shows off what this game offers? A trailer is meant to sell a game, build hype look at the Dead Island trailer, or Uncharted 2, MAss Effect 2 trailers.
This is PC version, you can see it on 04:11 press E to pick up.killzonexboxYeah I see that, but what was with the aim assist at the end?
Looks cool. However, the engine looks very close to Unreal Engine 3. The textures and lighting are almost the same. The lighting feels forced, instead of dynamic....just like Unreal Engine 3. CryEngine 2 looked better than this. How dare John Carmack boast about Rage Engine being the best this gen.

The lighting is baked, so yes.. it's 'forced' But UE3.971 probably handles lighting better than either, only native dx11 engine out of them...
The way it handles textures however is completely different... no texture files sitting around and being tiled onto those buildings, it's all just one huge texture(megatexture) comprised of stamps. :D
TBH 'bout crysis, it uses a ton of gimmick lighting, nice that it's real time, but imo it's so overdone.
And just to nitpick, Rockstar Advanced Game Engine = rage engine, this is id tech 5.
[QUOTE="killzonexbox"]looks better then i thought. But i still cant see how its getting hyped for its graphics. 60 frames person on consoles..How well does Dead City live up to its name? Find out with this raging trailer

Are there even physics in the game? He shot the monster with a rocket and it flew forward :? Dante2710
Does'nt look like there will be much in the way of physics, not that I'm sure why your specific example is off putting. That thing is huge, maybe the misile did'nt rovide enough force to knock it over but did cause enough injury to disable it? Ehh, I don't even care.
At least the game seems to know the confines it operates within and hopefully we won't have to deal with an impressive world marred by downright terrible inadequacies littered about, unlike a certain game.
Im just nitpicking i guess, but yes im just hoping the game wont be so inconsitent.Does'nt look like there will be much in the way of physics, not that I'm sure why your specific example is off putting. I'm seriosuly beginning to think those enemies that run at you are the only enemy types in the game. Seriously, they've consistently talked about multiple gangs that have multiple actions and different methods of behavior, yet we've seen literally none of them save for those idiots that run, get shot, and die. Kind of underwhelming the 5th time in a row. :?
Graphically, game looks crazy good.
i honestly wish they locked it at 30 frames... cant imagine what it would look like if they did.
markinthedark
Well they want to show off what the engine can do. If this game truly stays at 60FPS on consoles while looking decent then they have a winner. Doom 4 is supposed to show off the engine's graphical capabilities.

I don't think you're nitpicking tbh ;) Modern games definitely need more physics. I just appreciate when a dev does'nt overload their game so much that they end up having to hope for you (me) not noticing what's lying in the corners.
Someone mentioned today that the human brain is very fast at picking up the small details and that certainly holds true for me. Immaculate scripting and crazy set pieces does'nt do al that much for me when I also have to deal with this for example:
Not trying to make C2 look bad but we all know it's there and there's a lot of it in a variety of ways. I'll accept that RAGE does't have physics if we avoid that and write it off as sensible resource management.

Indeed, Doom 4 is going to be 30fps I believe, with even smaller environments probably. Should look even better.I love how it looks, the engine is top notch, the enemies seem to blend at how well they interact with the environment without any hiccups, the post-appocaliptic open world gave me a significantly different vibe, far different than Fallout 3.
I can't find one thing to complain about. It looks fresh, and a Racer/FPS hybrid will certainly bring uniqueness.
ID has never been good at telling a story. In fact, all their games have had mediocre storylines.percechI agree. I didn't mind it for the doom 1/doom 2/quake generation. But nowadays games have larger budgets and I expect a lot more out of them. Especially when it comes to story. I think games need to start evolving with writing....there really aren't too many games with good stories out there. It's something that needs to be innovated A LOT.
this game is going to be outstanding, and is the most impressive game I've ever seen technically.
60fps and large environments... id tech 5 is amazing O_o
EDIT: awesome art style and some really neat design too. going to be incredibly hard choosing between this and resistance 3. but... I'm leaning towards this.
