Rage's creative director Tim Willits says there is another option if 360 owners are tight with disc space.

Yay? I guess if you have no space it's a last resort and having options is always a good thing.

Makes sense, when I heard that the third disk is MP only, I imagine you'd only need to install the first two.

Hmm that seems like a lot of work for having options. So you install disc 1 (because ID recommends it) then you uninstall once you get to another disc? just seems like the 360 iis so out dated :(

Guess I might just have to bend over and take it and buy the PC version.

___

I have plenty of free space on my 360S and don't mind having three discs -- weighing the pros and cons it might be easier to just play this one on my PC (wow, never thought I'd be saying that!)

I wonder if RAGE will have horrible texture pop up if it's not installed... they make it seem that way.

It works in ME2, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in Rage. Though, I'll stick with PC version.

You just reminded me about the two-disc campaign with the one MP disc set-up. I mean if you really think about it it's actually not that bad. Anyway it's only as a last resort. Obviously the best choice is to install all discs if you have that luxury.

What, you really think games never work on PC or somehting? System Wars: spreading ignorance...

Also, is that screen on the TC's article an actual screen form the console game?

'cause that looks terrible, and nothing like the footage I've seen (though I've only seen PC footage).

how about someone try something else one day, have a install where all 3 discs can be installed but it doesn't install the redundant information already on the other discs, that could probably cut the HDD space needed in half

If you are going to sit there with a straight face and tell me that getting a new PC game like Rage is EASIER to run than on a Xbox 360 even with multiple disc installs on the 360 then I am at a lost for words. You must not have actually played a new PC game of that caliber when released, especially if you are running older hardware. Just getting Star Craft 2 to run on my Alienware box (yes, a computer designed for gaming) took some time. Way longer than installing two discs on a 360. Don't and try and act like people who prefer consoles don't play PC games because THAT is ignorant.

It fluxes actually usually based upon how much is on your hard drive so it can take 5 minutes or longer. you must have been standing around doing nothing in your playthroughs considering you can beat the actual gameplay portion of mgs4 is under 4 hours.

To be fair after trying GT5 install I'd rather have 3 disks over an 8 GB mandatory install xD.

Indeed it will, it'll also be the definitive version running at twice the resolution and at true 60 fps compared to the "sort of" 60 fps that about 4 console games run at.

Edit: And you might want to install an OS on that Alienware of yours, before you preload it with 500 gigs of virus infested porn.

The first install takes almost 3 times as long tho

This install amount takes place as the game progresses from the time you load the disk up, to just before each act of the game. We've included the specific install times below for each segment of the title.

Start-up: 8 Minutes
Act 2: 3 Minutes
Act 3: 3 Minutes
Act 4: 2 Minutes
Act 5: 1 Minute

ya it was terrible but I don't get up from my cluttered set-up when the install starts, I just wait, call a friend eat an oreo or drink my coke , it's in the same disc and that's why it's better , you know I have a laptopb on my lap ( duh ), I have some phones charging from the usb, my drink on small table and I alwayslyiing on my couch meaning Im extending my legs, that's why I hate changing discs specially when Im invited or forced to change discs for whatever reason, that whole set-up should be pushed aside everytime something like that happens and I have to put back everything in place again when I go back to my couch, I hate that.

with PS3 or PC it's more convienient.

lol, so switching discs is worse because ur lazy? Good to know. I see it like this. I get a brand new game, i cant wait to get hope and play, i want to just pop it in a play, i dont want to sit there and watch an install screen for 10-40 minutes. The first time a get a game i play from the disc for the first time so i can get right into it (except oblivion). Differences of opinion i guess

this isn't really news, this is just stupid people that didn't know how th installs worked on the 360 in the first place. It was always install by disc... which i think is kind of a bad Idea because there isn't 22gb of data in rage, you get all the redundant data shared on each disc installed 3 times.
