It's been 15 long years since legendary developer id Software released a new franchise, but the wait is almost over. The development of Rage is complete.and the game has now entered physical production. To celebrate, id Software have also released a new trailer.
Confirming that Rage had indeed "gone gold", Bethesda Vice President of PR and Marketing, Pete Hines tweetedthe following message:
Since folks have asked, yes, Rage is done and in replication. I've been playing every night and having a blast. Oct. 4 is almost here!
To celebrate, a new TV trailer has been released, presenting a great montage of everything Rage will deliver: guns, mutants, buggies and sharp flying spinning weapons. Watch it here.
MCV has also posted an interview with Tim Willits, creative director of Rage. He says id made a "conscious decision" to abandon the ****c "corridor shooter" ****of FPS it pioneered with Doom and Quake:
It was definitely a conscious decision for id to move away from that dark corridor setting. We didn't want to follow the same formula. When you're inside RAGE's missions, they're very ****c id. But the technology allowed us to really move out of that and let our artists be artists.
Rage will be released on October 4th.
