Not only is this oldbutif you look at the thread on Page 1, John Carmack just finished saying he prefers to develop for the Xbox 360 more because of certain memory difficulties on the PS3.
If you were trying to own the lemmings, just thought I'd lay that out for you before your pride grows too strong.
I am not anti-PS3 and will get one soon, but I figure one good potshot deseves another.

dang and blu ray is not needed this gen. oh well lemmings will down play thismazdaspeed-rx8
And cows will downplay the fact that john carmack has said that the PS3 is limiting the game - the nature of System Wars
Regardless the game looks awesome and I look forward to seeing more of it
lets hope people don't mind switchingRagashahs
They don't. Not this gen, not last gen, or the generation before.
If it's a disc switch after 5-7 hours of gameplay (assuming a 10-15 hour game), I'm happy. Congrats to you cows who won't need to actually do so, but it's not really a problem.

of coarse it isn't a problem this gen or last gen becuase almost no one had toDidn't John Carmack just say that the PS3 version will be downgraded:
The PS3 is not the favorite platform but it's going to run the game just as good. To some degree there's going to be some lowest common denominator effect because we're going to be testing these every day on all of the platforms, and it's going to be "Dammit it's out of memory on the PS3 again, go crunch some things down"
Well I'd rather have 2 disks and get the full experience.
How many times does this need to be posted? When are cows going to realise that 360 owners dont mind switching disks.DeadToFall
Never - because thats pretty much all they got to try and own them with
I say disk swapping never hurt FF7 one of my all time favourite games - never hurt RE4 like some guy posted - disk swapping has never been a problem before and to be honest unless its every hour or so - which lets face it, it wont be, it'll never be a problem
I think the cows have got bigger problems than lemmings with this game if the interview with John Carmack is anything to go on

im not sure how carmack could state something like this, when lair is dealing with over 10,000 enemies on screen. looks like he wanted neutralize the situation of the 2-dvd fiasco.
This kind of thing only will matter when we get a dev that says "we were going to bring our game to the 360...but because it can't fit on one disc, nor can we figure out a way to split it onto multiple discs, we won't be able to bring our game to the 360."
on that day, we'll have something to talk about. but since the game is coming, there's no point to discussing this. In fact, this supports the theory that DVD9 is enough. If it's not preventing games from coming over, then it's just fine.

Guess there's no room for AI then. I mean you have to wonder just how smart each and every enemy is going to be if there;s 10,000 of them. From the videos I've seen, they don't seem very smart. Heck in one video the dragon lands into the middle of an opposing army and they just stand around, some of them looking in the opposite direction of the dragon just standing there getting slaughtered.

what does lair have to do with this? enemies in one game are not the same as other games.......u failThis kind of thing only will matter when we get a dev that says "we were going to bring our game to the 360...but because it can't fit on one disc, nor can we figure out a way to split it onto multiple discs, we won't be able to bring our game to the 360."

a dev will never make a statement like that. it will ruin any potential relationship with said hardware company.

Did the cows mind switching on the PS1?

what does lair have to do with this? enemies in one game are not the same as other games.......u failstop acting immature with the "you fail" statements. to answer your question, the dev of lair was asked about lair and how he manages with ram with so many enemies on the screen. he simply states that there is always a way around the problem, it only takes time to find a new processing techniques to accommodate the situation.
I couldn't care less about switching DvDs.
Who really cares? Everyone thats saying blu-ray is needed!! well it's not really is it? You just have more than 1 Dvd... I'd rather save a few hundred pounds (or $) on a console and have to get up once every 5 or so hours of gameplay than pay extra for a system that means I don't have to.

There is a way around the problem, make the AI as dumb as a rock.

then it'll come down to trends. if see devs abandoning the 360 to make more games PS3 exclusive...perhaps it'll start to give us clues into storage issues.

agreed. i was thinking of what possibly could make a dev indirectly say such a thing. what your saying makes sense.
2 discs makes me feel like I'm getting more for my cheddar. :) I'm fine with it. BioShockOwnz
hah true that bro
