Rain 7/10 by Tom Mc shea

Gamespot should stop giving out SCORES and just review the game.

All they need to do is list the positives and negatives and give an overall impression. That's it.

No need to put a number scale on it because the numbers are meaningless when they are purely subjective in the first place.

aren't there like way too many 8's and 9's in the gaming realm anyway? Like seriously, the only way a game gets below 6 it's when the game is so bad it actually deserves a 0/10. But then every time a hyped game gets below 8 everybody's like: that reviewer too harsh or the review sucks. Not every game just because is "decent" deserves an 8 minimum!

But it's understandable why reviewers give so many high scores, I mean, most gaming related stuff live off what they make  on ad revenue from game publishers. And we have adapted anyway, we all know that any game below 7 is dog escrement unless you're a hardcore fanboy of the franchise, in that case you can ignore all reviews in general.

Gamers have a very  twisted worldly point of view. if someone disagrees, you attack the person. Rather than logically and objectively receiving the information and filtering out the bullshit, it is a threat to your ego. The thing you like, everyone else must like.

Good thing most reasonable people with a lick of common sense don't agree with that type a logic. Otherwise games like League of Legends wouldn't have one of the biggest communities on Earth, and Nier wouldn't have the cult following it has. And so on.

I'm still getting it. The atmosphere looks amazing, and I can forgive subpar gameplay and whatnot if the atmosphere is killer.

I remember the days when reviewers actually used to use the full 10-point (or 5-star) scale... Ever since the internet came, along with its hordes of fanboys, it's rare to see reviewers actually using the full scale.

While a 7/10 may be considered a "bad" score by the usual GameSpot standards, that's actually a good score by the usual Tom McShea standards. After all, this is the same guy who gave Skyward Sword a 7.5 and Last of Us an 8, so by his standards, Rain is only a notch below those games.
