Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty Hype Thread *56k*

Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty follows the events of Tools of Destruction, but it still stands on its own as its own experience, so you can easily follow it without having played Tools of Destruction. Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty releases next Thursday for the Playstation Network, and it'll cost $14.99. It's a 3-4 hour experience, so a smaller game for a smaller price. It'll be coming to Blu-ray in other regions, such as Europe, but only on Playstation Network for the US.

I didn't care about R&C, but eventually bought it when it went platinum and it's actually an awesome game, definitely underrated here.

AAA everywhere but Gamespot, for 15 bucks this is massive imo.

seriously, full next gen graphics, great gameplay, 3 - 4 hours, $14.99 how can you go wrong.

P.S. not to throw rocks at XBLA but this game offers a lot more than Braid and that game is $14.99

Braid is a unique experience with beautiful art and a beautiful thought provoking story. Yes, R&C: QfB is a full current-gen offering, except length wise, but I don't think it'll offer me the same thing that Braid offered. Both are great, though.

I know you know your stuff, but if we wanted a story we'd read a book and go to a book store (or rent books from some kind of "book-rental" place where they let you borrow the books, then read them, then take them back without having to spend so much money. That's a good idea! I dub this idea.... A larybribe....) Is this the reason it scored highly? Because it was artfarty and had a story that didn't suck? From what i saw personally it looks like a pretty lack-lustre game gameplay wise.

Im getting this day one. Even though I havent played RC:TOD all the way through.

I can't see it getting a better GS review than Tools of Destruction, so A. And a AA average on Gamerankings maybe.

On the other hand the gameplay in Quest for Booty is more platforming oriented than Tools of Destruction, it's also shorter and cheaper, so I have no idea.

Yup, and why shouldn't games try to tell compelling stories. It's holding the medium back to say that we can read books or see movies. I fancy books, movies, and games. Sure, I like my Mario games, but I also like games with beautiful stories. And Braid has that, plus the gameplay and everything else to back it up.

AA, but $15 is not a good cost for a 3-4 hour game.

Going to pass on it until price is lowered.

Yes you can't. But Ratchet and CLank did deserve a 7.5 it was great at the beggining but later trailerd off. Too much shooting for a platoformer. Also it was flawed.

This is exactly the same thing. Lot's of shooting.

This game is better because it actually forces you to go through all your weapons.

And Ratchet is 10x more attractive! :)

I can consider it an arcade game but can Gamespot? If this gets like a really bad score much lower than everywhere else then it would appear as though GS have something against download services that aren't XBLA, they give all the high scoring WiiWare games crap reviews, same with the PS3 ones, then Braid and Geometery War 2 both get AAA, seems fishy to me.

Well, lots of downloadable games are full retail quality games now. MS still hasn't got into that, though. I still like my hard copies, so I'm kinda glad.

???? Acording to metacritic its average review score is an 89. Awesome game, but there were many sites (more than 20) that didn't give it AAA.

I agree the Gamespot score was pretty low and overly critical, but lets not get carried away. This wasn't game of the year material.
