I assume i'm not the only one who read about the new cover system in RE5 sometime before TGS. I thought this would be shown at TGS, but I haven't seen or heard anything about it, what happend? nc_soldier
It's too early, wait for the game to come out, and if it's gone by then, we can start asking. They are probably still working on all the new animations and gameplay tweaks for it to work.
nr.1 it was not a rumor as some1 said, nr.2 it was even supposed to be shown at TGS, source: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/906/906949p1.html
I rly wonder what happend..

LOL there was NO confirmation, that was IGN assuming we will be seeing a cover system, since capcom talked about having gears liek controls, which ended up meaning the left trigger aim, right trigger shoot. ONLY.
With Takeuchi referring to the new system as similar to Gears of War, expect a new duck and cover system to replace the ****c Resident Evil ****of stop and shoot.
in red, was what IGN said, and its clearly wrong since, it talks about replacing the stop and shoot gameplay.
IGN misunderstood AND it was more asumptions since capcom didn't go in detail about the controls.

Well it does confirm that they were gonna show a new system of some sort atleast, quote: Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 5's control system is to undergo an overhaul, with a revised scheme to be unveiled at this October's Tokyo Game Show.
/quote. But from the vids I've seen there as been no change at all since e3....
Edit: you're correct about the cover system part though, they never said they were gonna add that.
I hope its gone (or was never going to be implemented). The only reason to you need a cover system is if you fight enemies that use guns. And if that happens in Resident Evil, any semblance of survival horror it has left is all but gone.
And yes I know some enemies in RE4 had guns, but not many.

alot of enemies throw things as well, and there are also enemies with crossbows etc.

why haven't you stated what you see in RE5, that makes you think of gears?
can't be the steriod chris, RE4's Krauser was a muscle dude and chris was big in the PSX version of RE1.
No cover system..
over the shoulder camera is from RE4, etc
???
To remind people, RE4 had a small cover system, Leon could do it, when it asked, he would duck and hide being a crate to avoid grenades and thrown weapons.
Eyezonmii
usually having a cover system would imply that it could be implamented on almost any surface (wall, table, bench, tree, cement divider, etc etc) to provide cover. what leon did in RE4 was simply interact with that specific crate because u couldnt do it with any of the other crates in teh game. hardly call that a cover system.
