Re6:ALREADY SET TO BE BIGGEST FLOP OF 2012? Whats Your Say?

People could make the case that both Resident Evil 4 and 5 were still well made games even if they weren't survival horror. I feel the same such case cannot be made for this game. It looks awful no matter which way you look at it.

Well, a flop is when it's worse than what everyone expects. Based on the comments everywhere, everyone thinks it looks terrible.

Oh just simply polishing it more and take Revelations and expand on the survival horror elements it had.

couldn't care less if it flopped or not. I'm going to play it.

It doesn't matter if it gets the atmosphere right if the game doesn't even let you do anything. That demo only further confirms that this is more like heavy rain than Resident Evil

Personally it looked like another mediocre action shoot'em up game with few horror elements thrown in.

Look who's late to the party, Resident Evil hasn't been survival horror since RE Code Veronica back in 2000, unless you want to count the RE1 remake (2002) or the RE outbreak games (2004). GD it's so annoying to see people whine about this **** for 10 years.

Besides the biggest flop for 2012 is RE ORC, which is the 3rd worst RE game besides Gaiden and Gun Survivor.

Definitely think it looks like trash comparatively to where I wish it was taking the franchise, but I'm sure it'll still be a lot of fun. What's the hype, AA? It'll probably score 7.5 or maybe 8.0. Not massive floppage really. I'm sure it will be to some though.

I just want to make sure I understand. Are we (and the people/sites that already played it) talking about RE6 as its own game or are we (and they) comparing it to the original games and basing it on how different it is from the cIassics (RE1, 2, 3, Veronica, etc.)? I ask because I often see people refer to the survival horror genre when talking about the RE newer games, especially considering that the newer games are not supposed to be survival horror at all. I feel as if that lesson should have been learned at least by RE5. I'm not challenging anyone's opinion, but I feel that the bias towards the newer games may be based on one's feelings on the older games.

I'm not trying to go off topic, but I feel that the "name" may be influencing some people's opinions as well. Around the time that the new trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Rising was announced (Revengeance, did I spell that right?), there were a clash of thoughts about how different it was from the previous gameplay trailer. One defense I saw appear often was, "it's a spin-off, it doesn't matter what they do. It's fine" (generalized statement). So now I'm thinking, how different would the reception of this game be if it wasn't called Resident Evil 6, but called Resident Evil: *Subtitle*, similar to RE: ORC, RE: Chronicles or RE: Revelations. These games were not like their previous cIassic titles as well, but they did not receive much criticism, or not as much as the main titles (4, 5, 6) do, outside of reviews. I'm wondering if what people have been shown so far about RE6 would be acceptable if the title didn't have a "main" number title in it.

I'm not trying to make a conspiracy theory about anything, just speculating.

Diablo 3 is the biggest disappointment of the year, cannot be beat in this regard.

RE6 looks horrible though, I'll admit. My favorite two franchises are both going down the drain in front of my eyes and it hurts. It hurts...

I'll probably get it if it has co-op....Better yet mercs like re5...After all, those were they only redeeming factors about the game. It was a blast to play with a friend.

Zero was pretty bad after the train lvl and even went against RE canon about Bravo Team (Bravo Team was out of contact with Alpha for 1-3 hours), it wasn't bad but it wasn't good.

Revelations had it's moments for pretty much the whole game but one thing annoyed me was that bald tech guy...god he was annoying and ruined the moment when you had to play as his partner.

The E3 demo was awful,just awful.

the showing at the MS conf looked terrible but the vids at gametrailers brought back my hype.

The show is soooo good :P

I expect reviews to be good due to it being a part of the main franchise (rather than an oddball spin-off such as ORC). Some of the issues you brought up could hamper that, though. I just hope it's a solid entry in the series.
