So, Half-Life 3 is Portal 2..?Mystic_Legend

You should have put ***SPOILER***
You're never going to get the Portal gun in the Half-Life series.
If you did, you'd see Gordon in the game, and that's just a no-no.

I see Gordons face on my game case all the time. :|
The portal gun will appear in a proper Half Life game at some stage in the future. It just depends if the technology is there to support the possibilities it opens up in an open environment. I mean theoretically to make the gun work you'd have to give license to the player to use it at his discretion like the gravity gun and not in a forced, set piece manner.

I know, some were just suggesting that the Portal gun would be available in Half-Life 3.

You see Gordon in the Opposing Force expansion pack for Half Life 1 actually.

yeah, but the Half life 1 expansions are played from the perspective of different characters in the same event.
The gravity gun never gets put to much cool use in the game. Throwing explosive barrels, spinning blades around in Ravenholme. The only time you have to make some creative use of it is if you are trying to get the STAY OFF THE SAND achievement in HL2. There are a few odd spaces where you can use it to funnel enemies down one hallway but the only one that comes to mind is in the house fight in HL2:EP 2 and the AI is so stupid it doesn't really make it necessary to do it anyway.
A few times I thought you had to build some sort of elaborate ramp/step system with it but it always turned out there was a much more straight forward solution that usually involved punting something out of the way so something could crash down.
I hope if the last episode really is the last use of the gun they make you get more cool use out of it. I guess the reason they don't has to do with not wanting to get players stuck because they threw something somewhere they should not have.
Sigh... another Wok7 thread....
The hilarity of his classic statement is further amplified by the fact that he continues to pull stuff straight out of his ass.

Wait, I thought Half Life 2: Episodes 1, 2, and 3 were essentially Half Life 3.TyrantDragon55
Turns out there will be another Half-Life game. Doug Lombardi pretty much confirms this isn't the last Half-Life game.

Just more rehashes/milkings. I like the Anti-Gravity Gun idea though.
So you were talking about Halo all this time?
[QUOTE="Cali3350"]So it will still have the best atmosphere and charactors in gaming going for it?
Thats good. Cant wait!
wok7
When did it ever have these?
Its true what they say about wok7, everything he says IS quotable.Anyway, I'll miss it, but I'm sure the game will be fine without it. I mean, this is Half-Life we're talking about. Its hard to NOT make a good HL.
The only two reasons that I LOVE HL2 are:
1. gravity gun. the best weapon I've ever used in a video game. actually the game would pretty suck without this creative weapon.
2. Counter-Strike:Source.
