We're shivering in our boots. 3ds doomed, vita dead. Everybody should be scared. Not only do smart phones produce better looking games, but its the really simple barebones games that are burying ROMS/cartridges.

Nintendo will be fine once they realize that what they are synonymous with being a CHEAP family friendly console. If they can knock off $100 and market it more they will sell a lot. No one is going to buy a Nintendo console for more than $200-250 and definitely not a handheld that's why 3DS monthly sales doubled when they cut the price in 2011. Wii was priced at $250 at launch and was the cheapest NEW console and have heavy marketing... The WIi U is the most expensive console out now and has little to no marketing, in fact so much so that most people don't know what it is. Its not the games that will sell this console and gamers need to realize that... Well its not the "games" that gamers would associate as system sellers. Wii sold shed loads and had poor attach rates and the DS as well and of course Mario sold most but guess what casual bought a DS for?... Brain training, A Wii?... Wii Sports. More adverts + Smaller price. Wake up Nintendo! Gaming is still a niche!... People that play games on their mobiles wouldn't call them selves a gamer. Someone who buys Dr Dre Beats headphones for $250 is not a audio enthusiast. Self labels are what divides peoples choices in the consumer market.

Nope. Other way around. Casual gamers will play temple run but they won't play WoW, StarCraft, Halo, COD, CSS etc. Gamers on the other hand will play anything worth playing.
Only casuals play phone games. People that want real games will buy dedicated systems. People who are buying dedicated systems has stayed the same if not risen. The only reason phone gaming is popular is because it's there. Nobody asked for it until was there.

Handheld devices just generally pass the time in a waiting room or in the bus for most. Its really no different than our phones replacing our portable CD, MP3 and DVD players as well.
It didn't conquer anything. They coexist quite nicely. The 3DS sales so far are on par with the DS. It would seem most people are intelligent enough to realize that android/ios offer different (more casual) gaming experiences as compared dedicated gaming handhelds such as the 3DS.
So casuals and hipsters are classified as people who download games on their phones ? this logic is profound ! Nothing more hilarious than elitism in the gaming community. As if your handheld allows you to be taken more seriously than a guy holding a smartphone. You still wear pajamas, mr. hardcore ?
Android and iOS are good platforms but the devices they run on are shit for gaming. Not because of hardware power, but because the lack of physical buttons.
