Today I'm going out to either get a PS3 or an Xbox 360. I cannot seem to pick which one I want. I like all the great games Xbox 360 has to offer, but I've heard too much about people's systems dieing within a year. If I do get a Xbox 360, I'm getting the Elite bundle. With the PS3, not that I'm a fanboy of any system, but I have a feeling Mircosoft keeps buying the rights for all the good games to their console, leaving PS3 out in the dark. I'm looking forward to Metal Gear though, and a lot of their other games.

So far I can see Xbox 360 being the best pick because of the vast amount of games. PS3 would also be a good pick because the PS3 hasn't been around long enough, but I'm not sure if more great games will come to the PS3 because of Mircosoft.

if metal gear is a must, then ps3

I had another quick question. Does anyone know the real difference between 360 and PS3 graphic and sound quaility wise? I know PS3 came after, but I've noticed that in a lot of game reviews PS3 and Xbox 360 games visually are almost the same.

Visually there really is no difference yet. We'll start to see a difference soon though. Sound wise, ps3 has it easily, no contest.

If you are going to buy a 360, don't be the elite, $100 isn't worth extra hard drive space. Elite is a rip off.

Best advice is to see the games that are already out and some which are yet to be out and see which gaming library interests you more and you would definately make a wise decision because no matter which console can play movies or be a media centre everything comes down to games and thats the way it should be.

And you can find two of those games on the Xbox 360. Oh and NG Sigma is basically a port with slightly better graphics. (Some extra content too I think...)

TS, please do yourself a favor and look at this guys name, then proceed to ignore him like the rest of us.

360 has good games, but I'm not getting one again until the reliability is fixed. It seems that if you like shooters and sports games the most, 360 is a good system. But like I did, you might have that worry in the back of your head that it's going to die soon.

it's a 360 vs PS3 discussion.

So you should ask him which 360 AAA's he can't get on PS3.

And even the few that also appear on PS3... they're... Better on 360.

Just because a game is multiplat doesn't mean it can't be brought up in a straight console vs console debate. If PC isn't an option to this guy, he wants a console, then the games he can get on 360 and PC but not PS3 are still relevant.

Well, we don't know if he has pc or not. But ok. Dirt and Oblivion ps3 > 360 if i'm correct. I know that in the past 360 has had better multiplats, not going to deny that. But gotta look to the future here.

The PS3 has no future. A FULL YEAR has gone by and still no exclusive AAA title. Pretty sad.

Oblivion I might give you if it weren't for the fact there's extra downloadable stuff on 360 that I don't believe (not sure) you can get on PS3.

Dirt was touted by the devs as being better on PS3, but it didn't come to much and seemed to just be about hype, because they were exactly the same.

Fair enough, CoD4 is equal. To encourage to pay the price of a PS3 over a 360, the PS3 version would have to be markedly better, surely?

I'm sure someone else will do it in this thread sooner or later but the point is every AAA the PS3 has is already on the Xbox 360 (except NG Sigma which like I said before is a port, a good games but still a port of a Xbox game). In other words the Xbox 360 has all of the PS3's AAA plus many more, so... when deciding between the two game-wise I think it's quite obvious which one to get.

And if you want to talk about PC, sure the PC and Xbox 360 share a decent number of good games, oh well. The PC has always had tons of games that were originally from some console, etc. Yes while having a PC (if you even have one to handle these games at the same performance that the Xbox 360/PS3 handles them) you still really aren't gaining too much unless you love PC games (RTS, MMO, etc.) which in that case you should of started with PC in the first place. In other words if you have a Xbox 360/PC combo or a PS3/PC combo you are still going to have alot of the good games coming out for both, this includes X360 and PS3, yes you're getting good exclusives on both ends but it still isn't exaclty a perfect combination. It's sort like having a Xbox 360/PS3 combo, most of your games will be mult-plats besides a few exclusives being MGS, FF and all the 360 exclusives such as Halo3, Mass Effect, etc.

My main problem is getting the Xbox 360 and having it die, and the PS3 coming out with outstanding games in the future. Or getting the PS3 and having more titles on the Xbox 360. To be honest, I would just buy both systems however that's too much coin to spend with Christmas coming up.

Well, he said he was looking at the Elite. I don't know which ps3 he is looking at. So it depends. He also mentioned MGS, which is ps exclusive.

Your best bet is to go for the 360 rather than gamble on the PS3's lineup somehow catching up.

If things do change, it's not like you can't change consoles in the future when it actually happens.

Your 360 will have a warranty that covers it and gets you replacements/fixes free of charge, and problems with the 360 are getting less and less prominent with each 360 variant.

The RROD is a faux story made up by $ony fanboys. I have 2 360s and none have broke. The new ones don't break either. Don't listen to fanboys and the cows here are as bad as Sony's Defense Force. Just buy a 360 and you will be happy. I promise.

the 360 has a three year warranty so you will be more than covered if you get rrod. as of right now i would go with the 360, it has the better library and will have enough games to last you a long time. Buy the 360 now and a ps3 sometime next year when mgs and little big planet are released

[QUOTE="Jesus-Halo-God"][QUOTE="Silent_Bullet"]My main problem is getting the Xbox 360 and having it die, and the PS3 coming out with outstanding games in the future. Or getting the PS3 and having more titles on the Xbox 360. To be honest, I would just buy both systems however that's too much coin to spend with Christmas coming up.snoz_dawg

The RROD is a faux story made up by $ony fanboys. I have 2 360s and none have broke. The new ones don't break either. Don't listen to fanboys and the cows here are as bad as Sony's Defense Force. Just buy a 360 and you will be happy. I promise.

Come on man, you can't be serious? Why would MS extend warranty to three years if it's made up?

to shut the cows up maybe? i dont know if its all hype or not but i do know my 360 has been truckin for a year now and hasnt skipped a beat

Right...

And not all 360s are breaking down, no one has, or should make that claim. But don't sit here and try and lie about a good portion of them having problems.

After some more reading and looking around I think I'm going with the PS3. I'm not willing to dish out $499 for the Xbox 360 if it's prone to hardware failures regardless of the vast amount of games for the Xbox 360. Even though there are not as many games out for the PS3, in time I'm hoping more titles will be released and less games will become exclusive to one system. The PS3 I'm going for is the 80gb bundle, not sure how different it is from the 40gb one outside of hard drive space.
