Well considering how much the PS3 offers I don't **** about the price. A blue ray player costs close to $1000 dollars, so you save 400 bucks and get a **** load of other features. Sure there aren't many games out right now, but that will change in a few months.
What's sad is the fact that you have to buy an addon to your X-Box 360 in order to watch HD movies that will soon be replaced by blu-ray. That's close to $600 bucks for a game console + HD DVD player.
Like I've said before, Wii and 360 are for the casual kids, PS3 is for the big boys that have finished high school and know how economy and business work.
not everyone wants a blu ray player i mean i didn't buy the ps2 for a dvd player i bought it for the games. And i'm tired of people saying the ps3 is cheaper than a blu ray player because its a gaming console first and blu ray player second. At least 360 owners get a choice in what they want i mean here r the ps3 choices 60 gb version or 20 gb, o wait i forgot they their is no 20 gb model anymore.Well considering how much the PS3 offers I don't **** about the price. Blu ray is not just for movies, it's a great addition for next generation gaming. This is one of the reasons Rockstar is struggling to make GTA on the 360. The 360 was made for quick cash, the PS3 was more planned out to be future proof.
Oh and about the new "Elite" 360:
I mean is microsoft being desperate, or have they learned it takes more GB to run the next gen game? What's even sadder is the fact that the HHD on the elite is exlusive for the 360, not like the one in the PS3 which you can change yourself to your liking. How much extra are you going to be paying for this elite? I can go to newegg and get a 250GB HDD for $50 and install it myself to my PS3.
I do not see the big deal with the price, it is about 100 dollars more than a 360; how hard is it to fork out 100 dollars? Unless you are a kid who lives at home and have your parents buy the console for you. If you put your priorities straight, it should not be so hard to afford one. But that is not the main reason for this "turn off"; it is with that price and the fact that there are not that many games that justify buying a PS3 right now, which is understandable since it launched 6 months ago. Remember the PS2? Not the best games at the start of its lifespan but it certainly does right now. Then again if you have an HDTV then why not take advantage of blu-ray? So there are reasons for getting a PS3 now and reasons for not getting one.SOedipusin canada the 360 premium is 570 while the ps3 is 800 thats a 230 difference not to mention that 360 comes with a game and ps3 doesn't so u have to shell out another 60 dollars.

lol anyways..moving on
To me the price is the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. I mean here in canada its $800 and then u gotta buy a game then a hdmi cable, and what if if u don't have a blutooth headset more money their. At the end of it its more than $1000. Now sony has to look at the 360 in the sense that the console should be bundled with a game, headset and other accesories. Another turn off to me is that u have to buy online stuff with a credit card. I think they should have a points system like microsoft and nintendo did because everyone doesn't have credit cards. These r just some of the resons why i rejected the ps3 this year and i want to here some other people's reasons to.Beefcake5000
And you're quite obviously unbiased due to you publicly displaying your Elite milkage fund. But anyway, the PS3 is worth the money when you think about it, because not only do you get the best consloe with the best exclusives, you also get a Bluray player that plays games and is a multimedia hub, for less than the price of a bluray player! And we all know that HDDVD is dead, so a PS3 is a bargain and worth the money. And you got off lucky, the PS3 is the equivalent of 850 USD, so I don't think it's fair to camplain!

For those who complain about the price: Don't buy it then! Why are you guys not happy with your Wii, X360, PS2 and so on? Would you have bought it if it was the same price as the X360? I don't think so. Yes it is expensive... but what should Sony do loose more money on every unit? I say wait till Christmas for the first price drop, if you really want one and stop complaining!
referring Credit Cards... Sony Japan is going to offer pre-pay PSN cards http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=24886
The only reason why I haven't bought any next gen console atm is, because I learned one important thing as a gamer. Never... never... never... buy the first series of a new console. All of them have their problems. PS2: Power Supply (simply dies at some point) PS1: Laser Unit (read speed gets lower, CGI are stuttering) DS: Power Supply (Fuse breaks due to high current consumption) ... the list goes on.

Yeah I have to agree with you, people can't be bothered to take a second mortgage out on their house for a video game console.

how do you know the fate of hd-dvd or the future of bluray? are you some kind of psychic? does sony pay you to tell others to buy their product? best exclusives huh? everyone has different taste in games and some might not like what the ps3 has to offer in their library of games. your last sentence wow...speechless.
I dont see how the credit card effects anything all you have to do is put a set limit of money in it and at the same time you know how much youve spent instead of having stupid points.
But yes the ONLY reason ppl are turned off by the PS3 is price.

no offense to you but if he thinks its best shooter then thats his opinion maybe hes one of the few that had fun with the game. and one of the bad points about ps3 is the price but also stating it as a super computer.

HDMI cable = $10
You're going to pay way more then retail price on cables when you buy your elite. So for a exlusive HD and a 10 dollar cable I have to pay how much?
[EDIT] Just found out the price:
It's $480, $500 with tax. So I'm getting the most overheating game console that can't play HD movies(unless you pay microsoft $200 more) or blue ray for $500? Yea, I'll stick with my Playstation super computer.
[Edit #2]
Oh, I also get "a premium black finish" when buying this elite system!
Yea, I'll stick with my Playstation super computer.
saying the ps3 is a super computer is like saying the wii is a blender
It has 0 worthwhile games. It has the highest price. Graphics worse than the competition. Slow load times unless you install games to HDD. Craptacular online with little to no features. Casuals purchase it for the Sony name.CPM_basic
I agree with it being most expensive but the other stuff is completely your opinion. I dont care about name brands ive played the 360 for months but when it all came down i bought the ps3. I liked it best but that s just my opinion just like everyone eles has one.
whos a fanboy. i'm talking as a observer and the reason 360 is better is because it gives u what a gaming console is supposed to, games. Go ahead name any game for the ps3 and i'll tell u a better game thats on the 360 . Naming exclusives onlyThe 360 fanbois haven't answered my question yet. I get a black box with no HD/Blu Ray player, a cable and an exlusive HD for $500?

Of course you can cause obviously its been out a whole year more then the PS3 so yeah theres a bunch more games for the 360. its like have a 5 on 3 power play the whole game and saying yeah the team with the power play the whole game is going to win. ( hockey terms)

When did I call you a fanboi? I said "The fanbois " I believe. Calling the 360 better is a matter of opinion, just like I call the PS3 better. Do I hate Xbox and Wii? Of course not, they're great systems. But the PS3, to me, offers much more.
I think Fuman answered your last question.
1. ive never owned a PS1 or a PS2 and im happy with my gaming this gen so far with the 360 and wii i dont need PS3 as well
2. no games on it interest me (mgs4 and FF13 and heavenly sword and thats it)
3. have never liked the controller
4. price isnt much of a deal for me but i cant justify the price tag....i got the 360 hd-dvd player so i cant say blu-ray player
