Now I have both 360 and PS3 and there are a few gripes I have with the PS3.

- Barely any PSN games have trials/demos...ALL 360 arcade games lets you try them out before you buy them.

- PS3 has an unsophisticated UI...for example, say if my brother is playing a game on his profile, then when he's done I want to play it on my profile...in order for me to do that, it will have to quit the game and go to the xmb(whatever) and log me into my profile then I would have to start the game up again. Never a problem on the 360, it allows me to stay on the game and sign into my profile.

- Another thing I hate is how almost no game supports custom soundtrack. You can listen to your music over any game on the 360.

- I hate how the PS3 doesn't give you the option to install the game to the HD...it's either you are forced to, or you can't.

- Even though the XMB is cleaner and has less going on than the 360 dashboard, it is actually a lot slower. Pressing the home button during a game and trying to quit out of the game is painfully slow.

- I also notice that PS3 games(multiplats) have longer load times and that's a big no no.

Anyway, they need to change it up a bit. Make the updates actually worth it like how the XBL updates were.

most of your observations are spot on.

i was also just griping about the slow dl times and how there is no real penalty in getting banned for cheating since you can just make a new free psn account.

you will have an uphill battle trying to convince people of stuff like this though, if they only have ps3 they never see the difference.

everything about the 360 is just smoother but if you have no frame of reference it seems nitpicky...well actually it is kind of nitpicky but wth, nits are all thats really left to pick at this point.

in the end the ps3 is not the joke that it was for 2 years after launch and i am pretty thankful that they got the thing turned around.

And yes, I have all the systems, and your points are valid. PS3 is an amazing system, but it comes with it's few flaws as well.

Squall18

Absolutely. I don't have the profile problem, as I'm the only one in the house that uses it and if someone else does play it, they just play it on my profile.

The in game xmb is odd. It loads everything, even though most of it can't be tinkered with in game. They should really cut it down to just the settings and options that can be used.

In-game music. Can't really say it bothers me. I've tried using it with a handful of titles, and I can't pay attention to the game with it on. Obviously, would be nice if it was universal for people who like it though.

I don't see the need to install a game. On the 360, you still need the disc. The install option was only added to reduce heat. It may have some other slight benefits, but they put it on there to reduce RROD incidents. The ps3 doesn't have the problem, so I don't see why it would be needed.

I agree about the demos for psn games. At the very least, I would like previews for all of them.

I've never noticed ridiculous load times outside of a few games. In general, load times are okay.

Yup, it's nitpicking. Nitpicking great consoles and games to death is what SW is all about.

Really? The point of the board is to promote discussion, which this doesn't really leave room for discussion, as they are all facts. It's like making a topic saying that the 360 has lousy hardware. Not really open to discussion.

But the XMB is slower than the 360. The options have to LOAD everytime you pull up the in-game XMB for gods sake..

UI not being user friendly is subjective. I like the xmb much better than the 360s UI. Also, it's subjective as to how much these things matter compared to what s/he dislikes about the 360. There are lots of facts about the 360 that I may see as negative that may not bother you, like cross game chat. It would really irk me that people on my team can't hear me or speak to me.

The only 1 I would have given is the first, but he actually sites a legitimate example for why the UI is inferior. The second 2 are obviously true as well. This is from experience from both consoles.

1. Ok, fair point

2. Probably the most valid complaint you have. I don't have anyone using my console besides me, but that sounds like a pretty annoying thing to do.

3. Ok, fair point, but I don't know if Sony can do anything about this (I remember when the functionality of playing music in-game was added to Burnout Paradise and maybe Warhawk. People were wondering why not all games supported this, and I think I remember there being a rumor about MS patenting it. It was just a rumor though I think).

4. I don't have a problem with, but I guess if you're impatient, it could be a problem. I'm just glad I don't have to install in order to cut down on noise. That's besides the point though. Options are always great, so it would be nice if installs were always optional.

5. I notice the sluggishness when pressing the PS button during a lot of action in a game, but if I'm already paused, it's not too bad, although still not as smooth as the 360 dashboard. Definitely not painfully slow in my experience though.

6. I wonder how you noticed this. Not many people buy the same game for two different consoles (unless you bought it in order to play against friends on XBL). Still, the loading times vary from system to system and game to game. For instance, this is a gamepro article from 2008 comparing different games and some loaded faster on 360 while some loaded faster on PS3. I can't comment on recently released multiplatform titles though since most comparison articles now are based solely upon graphics (360 versions normally have better graphics).

well come on man if it comes down to that we can just copy paste "pc is better" into every topic that comes up and just /thread 99% of the topics in sw.

it's like fight club, the first rule of sw is facts are not really facts right?

I notice it through demos. Of course I wouldn't buy the same game twice.

EDIT: I just mentioned it because installing the game to the HD helps a lot in load times. The fact that we're not given the option is just annoying.

Really? The point of the board is to promote discussion, which this doesn't really leave room for discussion, as they are all facts. It's like making a topic saying that the 360 has lousy hardware. Not really open to discussion.

well come on man if it comes down to that we can just copy paste "pc is better" into every topic that comes up and just /thread 99% of the topics in sw.

it's like fight club, the first rule of sw is facts are not really facts right?

You could copy and paste "PC is better" into every thread which I personally still feel is subjective. But making a thread titled that and just throwing a few factual things in the OP, and it's blog material for the most part.

I don't care if it gets blogged, but it certainly isn't some form of hiding as you made it out to be.

Why would a ps3 owner need to hide behind something when comparing the ps3 to the 360? I think most ps3 owners would tell you they don't.

So you notice loading times through demos, not actually loading times based off retail discs?

As for your edit point, valid point. Like I said, options are always good.

IAMSERIAL

your points are spot-on.

Eh, sometimes in war it's best to hang back and let the enemy waste ammo on other people. :P

-Can't argue with that. -Can't argue with that, though it isn't THAT bad to have to reload a game. -Use an MP3 player or something. Listening to music while you play games ruins the experience anyway. -How is that a problem? If you have to, you do. If you don't... You don't... -Not with all games. -10 seconds extra loading time isn't going to kill you. Note that I'm not saying those aren't valid points, but some of your points aren't nearly as bad as you made them out to be... I see no purpose for this thread outside of starting an argument.

Why I can't stand the PS3? Well I like it but when it comes to things I can't stand about it its three letters. P-S-N. 1998 called and said it wanted its communication technology back.

or maybe the fact that im on a 35/35 connection tested and wired into my PS3 fat and I cant get speeds over 7/3 and this is a KNOWN problem that SONY still hasnt fixed. MS doesnt have these issues as like you said their network is rocksolid and UI is user friendly, heck they are in the business of making OS no wonder why lol

I don't see why people insist on this being a blog instead. The majority of SW topics are purely opinion-based. If we waited for fact threads there would be like 2 topics made on any given day.

Because this whole topic is no different when a cow, hermit or sheep gripes something against another console. Lemmings can gripe such things like what TC posted but there are cows here who gripe about not being able to play a 360 game online because you have to pay to subscibe.

These are the types of gripes and complaints lemmings have been whinning about since the PS3 came out. So why do fanboys say it's blog worthy? Because it's a cycle of annoyance that gets kinda irritated to read.

Meh dont care, if i want a game i buy it. Youtube is your friend

The UI is exactly why i hate the 360 why in gods name do you have to see adds everywhere when you pay for Live? Not to mention ps3 is free and i dont get adds thrown in my face. The UI from personal and user experience is actually a lot better from what i understand. Its easy to navigate and a lot more direct which i like. I dont need fancy huge boxes making me switch screens every 2 seconds in order to get where i want to be. The live store is a huge mess, always has been for me. And the psn store is just easy to navigate in comparison.

Dont care about custom soundtracks, i usually just listen to the game (what a concept)

shouldnt have to install if i dont need to. This is not a pc last time i checked. I like how lemmings like to throw around that they can install when about 2 years ago they made fun of the ps3 having to install games. Love the turnaround

This is a problem i will agree with, but no biggie for me.

Never noticed longer load times, dont have time to download two of the same demo and look at load times. Id rather play the game

I hope they never change the UI its perfect for me and many others i know with a ps3. Most of them complain about the xbox more then the ps3.
