This free fanmade game made by MegaPhilX just puts any of Capcom's recent abuse of the megaman IP to Shame.

"Fan Made Game", bare bones budget, I don't think there was even a kickstarter for this.

OH yeah, Destructoid also gave the game a 9.5.

http://www.destructoid.com/review-mega-man-unlimited-258027.phtml

You can download the game from MegaPhilX's site here.

They gave us Resident Evil 6, so they're awesome.

Haven't played a Megaman game yet. I need to play them.

Capcom were fantastic in the 8-bit/16-bit and Arcade eras and very good in the 32-bit/64-bit/CD/DVD era too.

They still make some solid games but something got lost in the process of evolution, imo.

The game is a piece of crap that has terrible issues, and only people with Megaman nostalgia will overlook them. I have seen fans play this game getting frustrated with so many bad decisions and still saying it's the best Megaman game since 3. I would rather play Battle Network 4 three times in a row in one sitting.

games far from a piece of shit, it's alot harder than the most recent megaman titles however as the levels are packed with traps and enemies.

For Free you really can't go wrong on this anyway, the fact It's just plain better than what capcom has been offering is mind boggling.

Well you already lost all credibility. As I said, nostalgia is making you ignore the clearly obvious flaws. I don't think 9 and 10 where that good, Capcom had a alot issues that were right there when trying to imitate their older games (which they also includes some of their issues in the games as well.) but MMU has tons of bad decisions in its design. Yes it's free, but that would not fly as a game people would buy unlike 9 and 10. Despite meh those two games are, the devoted fan would still by them. When there was a rumor about it costing money(which they really can't do anyway) people flipped out (this was AFTER release, it was rumored to become a paid game.) on a lot of Megaman sites. But there we go, there is no use convincing you to actually look at the game as it is so there's no reason to further go into it.

That's how little Capcom cares about Megaman... they aren't even willing to submit a C&D for a game that could threaten their copyright.

They also let Megaman vs Streetfighter slide, the fact they are letting their fans play around with Megaman is literally the only positive thing Capcom is doing for the Megs at the moment.

Now if only gearbox werent such tight asses, we could have had a bad ass duke nukem by now.

Capcom's decline started in late 2006 when they canned Clover and the Clover staff left after headhunting everybody valuable at Capcom, and started Seeds/Platinum, took people a while to catch on to the decline of quality in their games, but that's the main reason. And when I play games like Bayonetta or Vanquish I can tell that's where the cream of their development staff was. They were able to hide it though, re-releasing games for the Wii like Okami and the older Resident Evil games, making those basic RE _ Chronicle titles, waiting to port Dead Rising to the Wii, outsourcing development of Dead Rising 2 to Blue Castle, outsourcing Resident Evil to those SOCOM developers. They made two crap games, Dark Void and Bionic Commando. But they were able to keep up appearance with RE5, which was no RE4 but it was still quite decent, introduced a strong online co-op, allowed for chapter select, finally introduced (thanks to fan insistence) on allowing for left analog movement that included strafing, and a right analog camera control and turning, though they were too far in development to switch to moving while aiming, they'd have to redesign entire levels to accommodate with a more efficient control scheme so they left that out. Anyhow, ex-Capcom staff on their way out stuck around to finish the game, I remember reading about that and once they were done they were off to their new studios. Probably why it was the last decent game people can remember in a long while. Some of the remaining Capcom's staff did okay on games, most people see games like Lost Planet 2 or Resident Evil 6 as bombs, but I rather enjoyed them, in their basic design they're actually quite fun games, if they suffer from anything it's a basic level of quality control, much of the time the games were very glitchy on release. I imagine on the way out their strong programmers were headhunted. Anyhow, Capcom isn't what it once was, but at least I recognize the reasons why, and so I'm not as judgmental about their recent games as other people. I actually enjoyed RE6 quite a bit while others were ripping on it quite hard, sure it wasn't as good as previous entries, but it's be wrong to judge it by previous games as the people that made those previous ones weren't at Capcom any longer. Does no good comparing it to RE4, Shinji Mikami was at Platinum for a while, then left to head up Tango Gameworks, which later became part of ZeniMax, and he's making Evil Within, which I've actually seen people bitch about looking too much like Resident Evil (which is funny because he basically directed and produced those a majority of the franchise). But yeah, Capcom is down somewhat, they still have control of their IPs which keeps them strong. But it'll take time for them to rebuild their teams, strengthen them, and get them making quality titles like they used to.

I always thought the MMX games were a lot more fun and fast-paced, and had better music

Never cared much for the originals, then again I didn't grow up playing them like I did with MMX/SNES

I grew up loving games like Final Fight, Magic Sword, U.N. Squadron, Resident Evil, Commando, Mercs.....

When I think of Cashcom now, I am enfuriated. The Street Fighter x Tekken debacle wasn't just a shame, but offensive. Had I been one to purchase that title, I would have demanded an immediate full refund, or I would have burned the store from which I purchased it down. It is absolutely unacceptable for a game to be purchased full price, for a large amount of characters on the list to be locked away unless you pay MORE money to access data that is on the disc. For even pulling a stunt like that, I'm boycotting Capcom for the rest of my gaming life and reccomending every one else do the same.

Then for them to turn around and adapt this blatant offensive money mongrel model?

SMH

Go to hell, Capcom.

(I'm just posting this based on what the title indicates what the thread should be about)

Thank you. Someone finally got it right. Capcom's Golden Age came to an end in 2006, after the first Dead Rising game came out in Japan on September 28, 2006. Both Okami and Dead Rising 1 closed out Capcom's Golden Years in a good way. The period between September 29, 2006 and December 31, 2009, was the right-in-the-middle, or winding down period. I was born and I have grown during and through the Company's Golden Age, so I know it all. The time when the Street Fighter IV arcade edition and Lost Planet 2 were released was when everything began to go downhill. The Devil May Cry reboot didn't help, either. Also adding to the decline was the departure of Keiji Inafune. And now, the decline has lead to the death of Mega Man. In a very sad, tragic and heart-wrenching way, both the departure of Inafune from Capcom and the cancellation of both Mega Man Universe and Legends 3 marked something horrible: It was the end of Capcom's years of high quality, creativity, fan service and overall game-making brilliance. Here, I'll recap the whole thing for you: 1983-1986: Capcom's Early Years 1987-2006: The Golden Age 2007-2009: Right In The Middle (Winding Down era) 2010-2011: Downhill era 2011: The death of Mega Man 2011-Present: Complete and Utter Crap era (AKA Crapcom era) I completely agree with you. Also, many of Capcom's talent has left, beginning with Shinji Mikami and ending with Keiji Inafune. Because so much talent has departed, Capcom is just a former shell of its bright and creative self. I plan on making a retrospective about the decline of Capcom's excellence soon, if you don't mind. ;) Once again, thank you.
