PS2 sold nearly aswell in Europe as it did in the US.
But yeah, I'd say NA is the biggest market too.
Doesn't the US make up about 44% of hardware sales, and Japan 17%? If those are correct, then PAL would be about 37%
I know Sony sold almost as many ps2's in the PAL territories as they did in NA, but that's because the Xbox was only big in NA. This gen, the 360's strength is once again NA.
[QUOTE="accameron"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]correction: US is over half of console market :) Count in PC and the story is diffrentasdasd
This is system wars. I'm afraid that PC's don't count. Sorry.
Wait.. So I cant play games on my PC anymore? Since when.
Will you guys please name a PC "system"? You can't, because they all have different amounts of power and configuration, not to mention the fact that there are 1000s of manufacturers. Consoles are standard systems, which level the playing field to every consumer (we all get the same gameplay, graphics (regardless of HDTV vs regular tv, the game still runs at the same speed and almost the same graphics, so don't try to argue that), etc), and you can actually put a name to the system. With PC there are too many factors to go into for reasons of comparing to console systems. Sorry.
Wrong. If you win Japan, you gain software which is essential to win in the occident. Japaneses may not care about occidental games, but we sure do care about their Metal Gears, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Final Fantasies, etc!Wintry_Flutist
dont forget their zeldas marios and metroids

The thing about Japan is that they went through a massive recession, almost like a game crash. However because of the DS it's higher then it's ever been. Hell software sales rival North America's. This explains why even though the DS is the best selling platform everywhere it still contains its majority of the sales in Japan. *Yes I know it isn't as big everywhere else but still it means it has to be highest then 17%*

Actually some games like Rachet and Clank, GTA, and Sim City sell pretty well in Japan.

Consoles are PC's too, they all need GPUs, CPUs, OSes, PSUs, the list goes on. Name a modern console that is not like a PC.[QUOTE="Wintry_Flutist"]Wrong. But pretty well is nowhere close to the millions the franchises I mentioned sell in Europe/USA.

Doesn't matter. If PC wouldn't count it would be called "Console Wars"

Well, Metroid is being made by an american dev (Retro) and sells poorly in Japan. But as for the other two, it's right.

It doesn't sell bad because it's made by an american dev *crash series and rare games sold millions* it's because Nintendo doesn't advertise it. Yes I know 130,000 seems small but remember the Japanese population is a third of the U.S. So to put it to contrast it's 300,000.
To put it in short.
Metroid is to Japan as Fire Emblem is to America.

Actually yes they are, adjust it to population size these games sell the same amount and even more *mainly Devil May Cry* then some of the games you listed.

Is that your justification? Stay in school.
There are millions and millions of PC Gamers that disagree. PC is it's own platform, whether it's a Windows/DOS/Linux/Mac OS, it doesn't matter. Being able to customize your specs is a plus, not a negative, but coming from a non-pc gamer like yourself, those comments don't surprise me. A console is a PC, it's just restricted from being customized which limits it's potential as a hobby.

metroid doesnt sell cause its an fps
and many japaneese get motion sick from them
^^^^I know the Japanese don't like shooters, same as Fire Emblem not selling well in the West because it's a SRPG.
To be honest about that motion sickness thing, everyone gets motion sickness from a FP game when they first play it, it's just that we as long time gamers have become adapted to it. Hell one of my friends almost threw up during notion of Half-Life 2.
There are more people in Europe and Asia combined then North America alone, considering there are only something like 36 million people in Canada (40 million at most) and like 200 million people in the USA or something,I really dont know the figures exactly.

DSgamer64
300 million in the U.S., almost exactly too.
