i've never rented a game before(even if i wanted to, there's no such establishment here in the phils.)

i've visited a number of forums, read a number of video comments along with a number of posts here on gamespot.

so, on topic, are RPGs, Action/Adventure, SP-focused games worth the buy? or are, "nah, i can save with a rent, i dont want a sequel, anyway."

:D

EDIT: by the way, cant create a poll. :?

I prefer to buy all my games...I NEVER rent...I just feel comfortable having all the games I play at my disposal....

if a game is too morbid I just trade it in or give it out to a friend, but I rearely get these kinds of games though.

I always rent, I buy and sell a lot of geetars so I don't normally have a lot of cash to spend on games.

Rent. When I see a SP game I played once sitting there knowing I have no desire to play it again (unless it's NG. I always go back for more)... I feel like I wasted money. I use GF so I rent it beat it return it. If I have an itch to play it again I'll re add it but so far it hasn't been the case since I've been using it.

Honestly the ONLY games I keep and don't end up trading in are SP-focused games. Online games come and go with no real decent story but tons of replay value. However once the next BIG game comes the community leaves and your left with what once was a great online game but now has a tiny community. While SP focused games stay fun because I can relive the adventure and story again. I mean how many people go back to play the very first Rainbow Six and how many people go back and go play the very first Mario or Mario3.

No. Even if I could rent games I wouldn't, I'm proud of my collection and I like having the option to replay some of the gems I've collected over the years.

I typically on rent when I'm on the fence about a game (or I here it's incredibly short). So buy if you can get it for a good deal or you really want to play it.

I use Gamefly which is rent to own. You get the game new and then decide if you want to keep it. It's fantastic. You can usually get games 10-20 bucks cheaper than if you get it from the store..If I really want a game on day one, I'll buy it from best buy or someplace else. The combination of the 2 works out great for me. In fact it works too good. I am often in a postion where I have too much stuff to play and not enough time to play them.

i rent. i dont do multiple run-throughs of any game, once i finish it, im done unless it has multiplayer. i buy games based on replay value... i dont want to spend $60 on a game that i finish in 8 hours and never touch again...

I always buy my games, older games 2nd hand though. But I mean for someone getting COD4 for e.g. and doesn't play multiplayer, renting would make sense because it's so short and wouldn't give them much replay value.
